Alton Towers Resort has revealed the name and first details of its new, unnerving ride that will challenge visitors to ‘submit to the spin’ when it opens later this spring

Alton Towers has just dropped the bombshell on adrenaline junkies with the sneak peek of its latest spine-tingling attraction set to launch this spring.

Dubbing it a test for anyone brave enough to ‘submit to the spin’, the famed theme park has revealed the new ride’s name as Toxicator, which towers at a dizzying 78ft high.

Promising to thrash daredevils through several wild spinning maneuvers, Toxicator is all set to leave riders breathless, flipping them back-to-back and suspending them facedown over a seething pool of toxic extra-terrestrial sludge. The ride will welcome over 500 riders per hour, where riders will be seated on an elevated 16ft platform in the Forbidden Valley right by the legendary Nemesis Reborn.

Bianca Sammut, vice president of Alton Towers Resort, stated: “Alton Towers is renowned for consistently delivering new and reimagined thrills for our fans and as the UK’s only topspin ride, we’re excited to welcome Toxicator to the park. We can’t wait to challenge thrill seekers to submit to the spin. Located in the heart of Forbidden Valley, this is the latest chapter in the Nemesis story which has captivated generations of thrill seekers worldwide.

“We’re not yet ready to reveal precisely when Toxicator will turn your world upside down, but rest assured the wait will be worth it.”

The ride is located in the Forbidden Valley, which is a “battleground of otherworldly aliens, suspicious scientific experiments and military might”, according to the Alton Towers website. The valley is also home to Nemesis Reborn. The Phalanx — who have been delivering tactical security and biohazard containment to sensitive research locations across the globe for decades — have been genetically modifying Nemesis, to weaponize its super strength and destructive capabilities.

The ride is flanked by green-lit water fountains and is a double-sided attraction, which stands as one of only two in Europe. With a 1.4m height restriction, thrill-seekers eager to queue up for its launch in the coming months can snag their tickets online now.

The Forbidden Valley has featured Nemesis since 1994, however it returned in 2024 as Nemesis reborn, which is more powerful and uncontrollable. The area features several mysterious sets including sprawling tentacles, damaged structures, and hints of uncontrolled chaos adding to the immersive atmosphere.

Nemesis Reborn reopened at Alton Towers in March 2024, after a significant refurbishment. The updated rollercoaster offers an enhanced experiences with a fresh storyline. The rollercoaster also recently snatched the top spot as the UK’s top theme park attraction.

Ocean Florida, the UK’s leading Florida specialist, asked over 2,000 theme park enthusiasts in the UK to find the country’s favourite theme park attraction. Nemesis Reborn came in top, gaining 12 per cent of the vote share, according to The Sun.

Alton Towers previously also announced plans for a new junior roller coaster in CBeebies Land, which is expected to open in 2026, pending planning approval.
