A spacious two-storey home has gone on sale with a price tag of less than £10,000 – and it’s being sold by Amazon.
The totally customisable property has been built to weather any storm and withstand climate change. It comes in a range of sizes, from one to four bedrooms, depending on the buyer’s needs. The home is prefabricated, meaning the parts are built off-site and assembled on-site – like a flatpack home. The tiny home measures just 20ft by 40ft, but it is still able to accommodate a kitchen, living room and bathroom too.

Constructed out of cast iron and wood, the home is sturdy with a robust structure that is said to have been designed to withstand various climates, according to Luxury Property News. On the listing, the home is described as “fearless of any weather” – whether that be strong winds, major snow, rainstorms or ultra-hot days.
The home’s design means it’s also not tied to one area either. The container is foldable, meaning it can be moved whenever, wherever you want to switch up your location.

While they may sound like a great idea in theory, potential tiny homeowners in the UK may face difficulties getting their home unpacked due to planning permission. Simon Rix, a planning consultant at Planix. UK told Homebuilding & Rennovating: “You wouldn’t get consent for a house that didn’t meet the minimum room size standards if it were to be a stand-alone house (as opposed to an annexe) and it would need to meet the design/character of the area criteria, which are vastly different in different places and they are judged subjectively.
“It would be difficult to say without a specific plot having been chosen but generally off-the-peg designs that have not been influenced by where they are to go generally will face more challenges getting planning consent than those designed specifically for that site, but again, this will be more of a problem in say a conservation area than in an area that already has a non-uniform style.”
Self build expert Mark Stevenson added: “There’s no reason why a tiny house couldn’t apply for and secure planning consent but it would need to comply with planning policy and fit street scenes and have amenity space etc. Something so small and not designed with this in mind would likely fail to secure consent as an independent house.”
