Arsenal are set to see a number of exits this summer as things stands with Jorginho, Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey all in the final six months of their contracs at the Emirates

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho is leaving the door open over a possible move to Brazil.

The Italy international is in the final six months of his contract with the Gunners and yet to agree new terms with the club. Jorginho has admitted that a move to the South American nation, where he was born, could be on the cards in the future, amid interest from the likes of Palmeiras.

Sport Witness reports that talks have started with Jorginho in a bid to complete a transfer to Brazil, but Arsenal are currently standing in his way. Mikel Arteta’s side want to see the former Chelsea ace extend his deal by a further year, but Jorginho’s wage demands are also said to be difficult for Palmeiras.

The club may yet be encouraged by Jorginho’s latest words however. “No, it’s a possibility, yes, in the future, it’s a possibility,” he said on a move to Brazil.

“So this door is also open, obviously. Keep all the doors open and calmly decide what to do in the future.”

The ex-Napoli star has claimed for the moment his focus is simply on the next match rather than his future. Though, it has been claimed that Jorginho’s representatives held ‘exploratory talks’ with Palmeiras over a potential move.

“My contract is until June and my goal now is to think about the next game, which is in three days. There’s not much to think about, you know?” Jorginho said.

“Things happen very quickly in football, things can happen overnight, but my mind is on the next game. Football is a box of surprises, as we all know, but my goal is to think about the next game. I don’t even look, because it always happens. Every window that opens is always crazy, with a lot of information, a lot of things, a lot of talk.

“But if you stop to think about all the talk you always have, then you end up wasting a lot of energy and it ends up affecting your work where you are. So my goal, as I said before, is to focus on where I am, which is here today, so that’s it.

Jorginho signed short-term contract extension in May, after joining the north London side in January 2023 on an 18-month contract. The 33-year-old once again finds himself in the latter part of the season with his deal set to expire however.
