Arsenal remain six points adrift of Liverpool after their 1-0 win against Wolves and boss Mikel Arteta will be aware he needs more bodies in his injury-hit squad to give the team a lift

Arsenal fans will be desperate to secure at least one new signing before the end of the January transfer window next week, but time is running out to get a deal done.

The Gunners are desperate for reinforcements to help bolster their title challenge, with Mikel Arteta already admitting he is keen for more attacking options after losing Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus to injury.

Arsenal remain six points adrift of Liverpool after their 1-0 win against Wolves and Arteta will be aware he needs more bodies in his injury-hit squad to give the team a lift.

Mirror Football has taken a look at the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding the Emirates as we build up to deadline day.

Arsenal in talks for wonderkid

While Arsenal will be desperate for a senior player to come in and affect the team immediately, the Gunners look like they could be adding a youngster to the squad after opening talks to sign Norwegian starlet Sverre Nypan.

The 18-year-old wonderkid had been identified by Arsenal officials earlier this month after. tracking the Rosenborg prospect in the Norwegian side’s academy.

Nypan has also generated interest from Manchester United and Manchester City, but Arsenal are understood to be leading the race to sign him after “advancing” in talks, according to the Athletic.

However, it’s believed a deal is still far from being sorted out with a firm decision on his future not yet being made – with the race for his signature remaining open.

Last year, he talked up a move to Manchester United, which may disappoint Arsenal fans. He said: “It would obviously be a dream come true to play for Manchester United. I’m aware United has shown some interest. But I’m quite adamant that I don’t want to open that door yet. I want to focus on Rosenborg and not think too far ahead.”

Sesko “has already picked Arsenal”

Red Bull Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko is a player Arsenal know could come in now and improve the team immediately – and they have reportedly received a big boost over a move.

The Bundesliga side are reluctant to sell their forward in the middle of the season, with the team fifth in the table and chasing a top four spot that will give them Champions League football.

But according to talkSport, Sesko has “already decided” he wants to join the Gunners and made that decision last year amid interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.

The report adds it would take a “crazy offer” to persuade Leipzig to sell in January, with a summer move far more likely.

Sesko has 13 goals in all competitions this season and is seen as one of Europe’s most promising strikers.

Gunners risk losing another youngster

Arsenal chiefs are reportedly concerned they could lose young defender Ayden Heaven to Manchester United – after the Red Devils took 17-year-old Chido Obi-Martin from the Emirates last year.

Arsenal boast some of the Premier League’s best upcoming talent but there are now fears they could lose another highly-rated prospect in 18-year-old centre-back Heaven, who was spotted at Old Trafford to watch United’s 2-1 win over Rangers on Thursday.

Heaven’s deal is set to expire this summer, which would allow United to sign him for free, and they have reportedly already made contact with the youngster.

Heaven, who can also play at left-back or in the centre of midfield, kicked off his youth career with West Ham in 2015 before switching allegiance to Arsenal four years later.

Losing Heaven to United after they snapped up Obi-Martin in September would be a huge blow to Arteta, who came off the bench in October’s 3-0 win over Preston in the Carabao Cup.
