If you want to save money on your shopping you will have to act quickly

Asda has issued a huge update to shoppers who use the Asda Rewards app — but have given a deadline of December 31.

The basic idea of the Asda Rewards scheme is you scan your app every time you shop at the retailer and collect ‘Asda Pounds’ that can be turned into money-back vouchers for future shopping trips. But throughout the year you have also been able to add to a Christmas Saver Cashpot, which meant shoppers could squirrel away some or all of the ‘Asda Pounds’.

Once the Asda pounds were placed in the Christmas Saver Cashpot they were not able to be used, until now. Asda has now informed customers who have the app and have been using the cashpot that the Asda pounds can now be used – but only until December 31.

The money in the cashpot can now be turned into a voucher which can be applied at the till in store or online and will take the amount off your overall bill.

In an email to customers, the Asda Rewards team said: “Your Christmas Saver is now available to spend. You can convert your Christmas Saver Cashpot into a Voucher(s) and scan on your Christmas shopping.

“If you’re shopping online, a converted voucher will automatically be taken off – so make sure you only convert it when you need it. Your Voucher can be used at the same time as a regular Cashpot Voucher.

“Your Christmas Cashpot Savings will expire at 11.59pm on 31/12/2024. Online orders must be placed before 31/12/2024 and not amended after this date.”

It is not clear what happens if you do not use the Asda pounds in the Christmas cashpot before 2025. Asda has been approached for comment.
