Amelia Dimoldenberg has built quite the reputation for herself in the social media world thanks to her brilliantly funny series on YouTube, The Chicken Shop – and she has just as much of an interesting life outside of the internet.

The comedic presenter, 31, is set to take on the Bake Off tent this evening (March 23) in aid of Stand Up To Cancer – alongside fellow celebrity competitors Sarah Beeny and Maxine Peake. Will she be just as hilarious on the show, or maybe even earn a Paul Hollywood handshake? We’ll have to find out.

On her YouTube series, Amelia takes celebrities on fake dates at quirky chicken spots around London, asking them questions about their lives. She is known for her deadpan style and awkward interactions in the series have garnered the attention of fans over the years – but there is certainly more to her than just her on-screen persona.

The concept for Chicken Shop Date came about when the internet star started writing for the youth magazine The Cut, which eventually led to the creation of the web series.

Politician dad

Amelia has gone from strength to strength in her career, attending red-carpet interviews and film premieres, including her famous interviews on the red carpet for the movie Barbie. She has also reported on several red carpets, starting with the MOBO Awards in 2017, followed by the Brit Awards, and the Golden Globe Awards.

Amelia grew up in London and is the daughter of retired librarian Linda and politician Paul. Amelia also has one sister named Zoe.

Paul Dimoldenberg is a local politician in London. He serves as a Labour Councillor for Hyde Park Ward on Westminster City Council and was a Council Cabinet member for City Management and Air Quality, although he stepped down from his position earlier this year.

Paul’s replacement Cllr Dimoldenberg wrote on the Westminster council website: “I’d like to thank Paul for all of the incredible work he has done in our city. Over many years Paul has been tireless, championing the interests of people in Hyde Park ward and across Westminster. While we wish him well for his upcoming retirement, I’m certain Paul will remain a very active member of his community.”

Whirlwind romances

The comedienne has often been at the centre of romance rumours, particularly following her brief relationship with rapper Aitch. In 2022, the pair fuelled speculation after Amelia shared a photo of them spending time together, accompanied by a heart emoji.

Amelia later confirmed the news as she gushed over him saying: “We’re hanging out…like him, a lot. He’s great, have you met him?” Sharing what she loves most about their relationship, she said: “I think that I love that he loves me so much.”

“It’s nice when somebody pays attention and is interested in you and stuff, right?” she added. However, it wasn’t meant to be as they broke up after ten months of being together.

Meanwhile last year fans were led to believe that the star had been “secretly dating” Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield. Amelia had interviewed Andrew on her YouTube show – and viewers were quick to point out their undeniable chemistry. However, neither has spoken out about a romance – Amelia opened up about “kissing someone” just weeks before their episode.

Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show. she admitted: “I’m feeling really good about being single at the moment, but that’s because I kissed someone recently.”
