Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney faced off in court once again last week in a showdown over a £1.8 million legal bill – with a source claiming that Becky refuses to back down

It’s been half a decade since Coleen Rooney sent shockwaves through the celebrity world by accusing Rebekah Vardy of leaking stories about her to the media in an explosive social media post. This led to their notorious Wagatha Christie trial in 2022, where Coleen emerged victorious after Rebekah lost her libel claim but it seems the saga is far from finished.

Just last week, the drama escalated as the WAGs returned to court for a face-off over Coleen’s £1.8 million legal bill. Rebekah who was instructed to cover 90% of Coleen’s costs disputed the “sheer magnitude” of these charges, alleging they included a hefty bill for one of her lawyers to stay at a five-star London hotel, along with a food and mini-bar tab.

However, Coleen’s lawyer retaliated, stating that allegations about hotel expenses were “factually incorrect”. He also contended that the costs could have been reduced if Rebekah had “conducted this litigation appropriately”. In another victory for Coleen, a judge declared that her lawyers hadn’t committed any misconduct and it was “not appropriate” to cut her legal bill. Rebekah was also told to pay her an additional £100,000, with a total settlement to be determined next year.

But an insider has claimed to OK! that Rebekah, 42, who is reportedly not done with her battle against Coleen, 38. They said: “Becky can’t help herself and she is determined to get the final say in all of this. She is still furious that the judge ruled in Coleen’s favour initially, as she insists she didn’t do it. She’s upset at this latest ruling, but she’s not letting it get her down as she’s determined Coleen and her team won’t get away with this,” adding that there’s more to come from Becky’s corner.

They added: “There will be another hearing next year where the final bill will be decided and she will make sure her team goes all out to ensure she doesn’t pay Coleen’s full bill. She won’t let this go. Becky has got a thick skin and doesn’t care what people are saying. The £100,000 she was ordered to pay was less than Coleen’s team wanted, so Becky doesn’t see it as a huge loss. She won’t be put off by this and she is still determined to get one over on Coleen, one way or another.”

Coleen made waves last year with the release of her Disney Plus documentary, The Real Wagatha Story, opening up for the first time publicly alongside her spouse Wayne, 38. With endeavours ranging from Vogue interviews to penning her book, ‘My Account,’ Coleen has been front and centre.

Meanwhile, the source claims that despite Rebekah’s seemingly quieter stance, the wife of Leicester City star Jamie, 37, isn’t looking to fade into the background anytime soon. “Many people thought that Becky would just disappear from the public eye after the court case and while she’s taken some time away, she recently told her Instagram followers that she was preparing for her comeback. She’s of the thinking that all publicity is good publicity and it gets her back in people’s minds again. She’s not going away, even if Coleen wants her to,” the source claims.

“She feels Coleen has really been rubbing it in her face with her documentary, books and interviews and she wants to get the last laugh and won’t stop until she does. Becky wants some vindication, but Coleen just wants her to pay so she can finally move on.”

And with reports that husband Jamie is working on a documentary about his career, with Rebekah expected to take on a starring role, it could launch her back into the spotlight. “”. She knows that Jamie’s career will come to an end soon and she wants them to become more of a celebrity couple. The documentary that Jamie is reportedly to be working on will give Becky a chance to talk about the court case again,” the source adds. “She will never get over losing the court case or how Coleen outed her, and she won’t stop until she feels she’s got a little bit of justice for herself.”

Renowned behaviour psychologist Jo Hemmings has given her take on the situation to OK!, stressing the importance for Rebekah to get past the dispute. She expressed concerned remarks, “Rebekah has a deeply unhealthy fixation on this case,” and went on to detail, “In my opinion, I feel her behaviour may be fuelled by anger, resentment and betrayal, perhaps feeling like she has already paid a high professional and personal price for her actions.”

She speculated on the impact of the financial aspect, saying, “And the extensive legal costs she is now expected to pay, feels like Coleen, her former friend, is just rubbing salt in the wound by punishing her further. I don’t think she has ever recovered from the humiliation it haunts her wherever she goes, eclipsing any previous fame or success that she achieved.”

Hemmings also cautioned, “If she doesn’t let go of the situation and learn how to move on, this fixation is in danger of consuming her. She may have little positive energy left to give to her friends and family and she could lose or damage those relationships. Ultimately, it could become too much to cope with and she may have some sort of breakdown, where she feels completely overwhelmed by it and wholly emotionally drained.”
