Bethan’s picks

Boots X NARS Beauty Icons Gift Set – £35, worth £76.44

Boots is always one of my go-to retailers for beauty gift sets, not least for their enormous range and amazing deals. While their three for two promotion and regularly rotating Star Gift offer great value, new for 2025 are their Beauty Icons sets, which will see 16 branded beauty sets launch in the lead up to Christmas.

Each Friday sees a brand new gift set launch from top brands like Redken and Sculpted By Aimee, but my top pick for the season is this NARS set. Worth over £76, it’s priced at £35, saving £41.44 in total.

Featuring three NARS cult-favourites, it’s perfect for anyone who loves the brand, or adores makeup but doesn’t always splurge on the pricier brands. Inside, there’s a NARS Afterglow Lip Balm in the shade Orgasm, NARS Mini Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder and NARS The Multiple in the shade Orgasm Crave – products and shades that will suit everyone.

It’s a gift that’s guaranteed to be loved, however, only one of the items is full sized, with two travel sizes that could leave shoppers wishing for the full product, especially if you fall in love with one of the shades. If NARS feels too spendy, No7 also has strong holiday gift sets at Boots this year. The No7 Pro Artist Shimmer & Glow Gift Set stars an eye palette, liquid blush and highlighter/bronzer compact for £20.

Merit Five Minute Morning set £155, worth £181

If I lost my makeup bag tomorrow, this is the first thing I would buy. I discovered Merit earlier this year and they’ve quietly taken over my daily routine, and I’ve slowly been converting all of my friends and family to their fuss-free, easy-to-use staples, too.

The Core Collection features ‘everything you need to get ready in five minutes’, including their The Minimalist complexion stick, which is a product that’s not quite a concealer or a foundation, but somewhere in-between offering coverage and even skin tone. There’s also a Flush Balm (which are, in my opinion, the best blushes ever), a Shade Slick lip oil, complexion brush, Day Glow highlighter, mascara and brow gel.

Usually, these products would set shoppers back £181, but are £155 as part of the set. The collection is fully customisable so shoppers can pick out which shades they’d like for every single product except for the mascara, which is currently only available in black. I’m still praying for the day they make it in brown. This is the ultimate gift for anyone feeling a little lost with their makeup bag and needs an overhaul, or for the beauty aficionado in your life who appreciates effective, everyday products.

Medik8 Retinal Rewind Age-Defying Face & Under Eye Collection – £64, worth £91

Gifting anti-ageing skincare can be a bit of a faux pas for some, however, you simply can’t go wrong with Medik8. The science-backed skincare favourite has launched a number of gift sets for Christmas which save money when compared to buying individual products.

The Medik8 Retinal Rewind Age-Defying Face & Under Eye Collection is worth £91 but is priced at £64. It contains a full sized Crystal Retinal 3 worth £49, plus a Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye 3, worth £42.

The Vitamin A duo aims to target all visible signs of skin ageing. While Crystal Retinal 3 face serum visibly firms, brightens and smooths your skin while you sleep, Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye 3 targets the appearance of crow’s feet, fine lines and puffiness.

Alternatively, Sephora shoppers can pick up this Medik8 Day & Night Edit for £39. Instead of two full sized products, it includes five minis ideal for trialling out a selection of the brand’s skincare bestsellers.

Lauren’s picks:

Rodial Banana Makeup Kit – £45, worth £64

Rodial has me in a chokehold lately – I’m totally hooked. Two of their cult faves, the Banana Lowlighter and the Glass Powder, are now non-negotiables in my makeup bag. And guess what, I found a way to snag both without blowing the budget.

Normally, these beauties cost £38 and £29 each, so they’re not exactly pocket change. However, Rodial has just dropped the Banana Makeup Kit for £45, which includes both of those gems, along with a cute little powder puff. The set’s worth £65, so that’s a sweet £20 saving.

For those who haven’t jumped on the hype yet, here’s the lowdown. The Glass Powder is famous for giving that smooth, glassy-skin finish – no cakey mess, just silky perfection.

Meanwhile, the Banana Lowlighter brightens like a dream. It’s a creamy, light-reflecting formula that mimics eight hours of sleep and comes in a luxe tube with a precise wand, allowing me to target dark circles and dull spots like a pro.

LANEIGE Bouncy & Firm Mini Skin Treats – £25, worth £29

As someone who’s constantly swimming in skincare samples, it takes a lot for a product to earn a regular spot on my shelf. But every so often, a range comes along that actually makes me pause and commit.

Laneige’s Bouncy & Firm collection is that range, with products designed to plump, hydrate and bring tired skin back to life. In fact, I love it so much that I’ve just restocked it for the third time.

This gift set includes three travel-sized versions from the collection: a serum, eye sleeping mask, and a lip mask. The value of this set isn’t the best compared to others on this list, but for those keen on skincare that delivers on hydration and bounce, it’s worth considering.

The real MVP for me in the set is the Bouncy & Firm Eye Sleeping Mask. My under-eyes are sensitive, and most products leave them red, puffy, or irritated. This one, though? Absolute dream. It has a cooling gel texture that glides on like silk, instantly soothing and actually helping to de-puff – all without a hint of irritation. It’s like a mini spa moment before bed.

Paula’s Choice The Iconic Trio Kit – £35, worth £53

Paula’s Choice has been in the skincare game for three decades, and fans will know why it’s become such a cult favourite. Clear formulas, no-nonsense ingredients and results you can actually see – what’s not to love?

To mark the milestone, the brand has pulled together a trio of its most iconic heroes in one very giftable kit. Inside, shoppers will find the 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant (a pore-unclogging, skin-soothing essential), the Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 (think of it as a featherlight SPF that actually feels good to wear) and the Pro-Collagen Peptide Gloss Balm. The latter is my personal favourite; I’ve been using it for around six months now, slathering it on every night, and my lips have never felt so soft, nourished or hydrated.

For those looking for a gift set to achieve a luscious pout, the Laneige Dreamy Lip Kit (£16.20) is a good alternative. It features four mini overnight lip masks that work hard to nourish and regenerate chapped lips overnight.

Jess’ Picks:

Boots X Sculpted By Aimee Beauty Icons Gift Set – £35, worth £90

Sculpted By Aimee’s Beauty Icons Gift Set features four full sized products which fans of the brand are sure to love. Coming in at a purse-friendly £35, beauty buffs can also expect to find a chic light pink transparent makeup bag in the gift set that’s ideal for travel or popping in an everyday handbag.

There’s not a dud product in sight either, as the set contains the Sculpted by Aimee Beauty Base Protect 50ml, the brand’s My Mascara 12ml, as well as the wearable Liquid Lights Pink Pop 7ml liquid blush, and the Hydra Lip Blush 3.5g.

A great way for makeup enthusiasts to discover the brand this festive season, the contents is worth a whopping £90 but retails for £35, meaning shoppers can bag a saving of £60 when they treat someone special. As a beauty writer, I especially like that the shades included are suitable for everyday wear.

Alternatively, the £59.99 Sephora Golden Glow Set also includes a range of makeup from iconic brands such as Haus Labs, Natasha Denona, and Makeup by Mario.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Icons On the Go Gift Set – £47

Featuring one full size and three travel sized products, the Charlotte Tilbury On the Go Gift Set not only contains four products sure to wow any beauty fan, but the packaging is also gorgeous, meaning there’s no need for wrapping.

Recipients can expect to unbox a travel sized Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Charlotte’s beloved Pillow Talk hue, whilst there’s also a full sized matching Pillow Talk Matte Revolution Lipstick which retails for £29 alone on the Sephora website.

In true Charlotte Tilbury style, the eyes and pout are the focal point of the set as it also contains a mini Eyes to Mesmerise Eyeshadow in a matching pillow talk shade, whilst beauty fans can complete their look using the travel Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes! Mascara.

Those who like pinky nude lip products may also wish to shop the NARS Afterglow Lip Balm Duo Set which has been cut in price from £37 to £22.20, though the contents is actually worth £54. They’re some of my favourite glossy balms for everyday wear.

Fenty Beauty Best of Beauty and Lip Set – £33, worth £70

With so many iconic products under its belt, Fenty Beauty is a sure fire winner to gift to any beauty lover this Christmas. Boasting three full sized products and a mini, the Fenty Beauty Best of Beauty and Lip Set contains the brand’s super popular Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in the shade Fenty Glow.

Also in the gift set is the Hella Thicc Volumising Mascara which has gained rave reviews on Boots’ website, with one shopper saying: “This is the best mascara I’ve ever used, I wear false lashes daily but this mascara has me going lashless! The formula is great, it lifts, adds volume and length. This is going to be my ride or die product.”

Beauty fans can also try out the Plush Puddin’ Intensive Recovery Lip Mask in vanilla and the Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil Mini Highlighter as part of the set which is perfect for adding some sparkle to the face and body this party season.

It’s worth noting that not all of the shades included in the set may be to every beauty fan’s taste, but I’d argue that they’re some of the brand’s most crowd-pleasing options.
