The Silentnight heated blanket from Boots is will help you combat the cold without whacking the heating on

Many Brits have woken up this morning to a beautiful blanket of glistening white snow covering as far as the eye can see. And although the view is pretty, the temperature is pretty chilly causing us to reach for the thermostat and crank it up (not to mention layer up your jumpers).

But, as someone who is constantly cold, I’ve discovered a toasty solution that will not only keep you warm without needing multiple jumpers, socks and blasting heating but also help keep your energy bills down. This amazing, personally life-changing item is a heated throw, more specifically, the Silent Night Luxury Super Cosy 9-Heat Setting Heated Throw in charcoal, priced at £60 from Boots for grey and beige at ASDA for £60.

Now, this isn’t your average blanket – of which I have many. It is one which emits heat once turned on and is seriously cosy. Since hopping on the electric blanket trend, I’ve been wondering how I’ve managed without one for so long.

As the name implies, the blanket offers a variety of heat settings, ranging from 1, equivalent to your standard electric-less cosy blanket, to 9, which feels like being enveloped in a warm hug by a loved one, your favourite pet or hot water bottle. Additionally, this heated blanket is incredibly soft and luxurious to touch which adds to its charm.

The chunky jacquard fleece style instantly combats the cold and, when turned up, is perfect for film nights on the couch or working from home on chilly days, reports the Express. The Silent Night Heated Throw is a large, cost-effective blanket that measures 120X160cm and costs from 1p to run, which is ideal for keeping those energy bills at bay.

It features HeatSafe overheat protection and an automatic shut-off after two hours, although the timer can be set for longer if desired. Despite being electrically powered, the blanket is machine washable once the wire is detached.

One thing I will say is that it did not heat up to its full potential on the first use and took about an hour to heat up. Although, after using it almost every day since getting it, it’s really come into its own and is the heat-producing blanket of dreams.

If you’re looking for something a little more Christmassy, this red and grey check throw by Dreamland, with a soft, fleecy interior layer and measuring slightly larger at 135X180cm, is available. Originally priced at £109.99, it’s now down to £69.99. The blanket features a Digital LED control system with six heat settings and costs as little as 5p per hour to run.

If you want a Silentnight blanket Wayfair is selling the Comfort Control Heated Throw Super-soft for £41.99. This is very similar to the one reviewed above but has a slightly different finish and appearance. It has also garnered 164 five-star reviews and a star rating of 4.4 out of 5.
