Boots is selling a ‘very effective’ hair loss treatment said to give you “great volume and beautiful hair that most people envy.” Available for £25.95, the Regaine For Women Regular Strength Minoxidil 2% Scalp Solution -1 Month Supply is suitable for women aged 18-65.

The product description states: “Regaine for Women Regular Strength is used to treat common hereditary hair loss in women aged 18-65 years. It is thought that it works by aiding the blood flow to the cells in your scalp, which grow hair. The exact process by which this occurs is not known.

“Regaine for Women Regular Strength works best in women who have general hair thinning of the scalp. Those who are younger or have been losing hair for a short period of time are likely to respond best to Regaine for Women Regular Strength.”

The product description adds that it may be suitable for you if your hair loss started gradually and progressed, you have a family history of hair loss, and no other symptoms are present. However, it states that you are unlikely to benefit from the treatment if you have a large area of hair loss or you’ve experienced thinning for many years.

While the enclosed leaflet explains how to use the treatment in full detail, Boots notes the ‘clinically proven treatment’ is applied ‘direct to the scalp to treat women’s thinning hair.’ Anyone with health concerns should speak to a GP, and you should consult your doctor before taking new medication.

Reviewing the treatment, one shopper commented: “Very effective. In Regaine for Women I have found the answer to my hair loss problem which was causing me much distress. It is easy to apply and within 2 weeks I was already seeing new hair growth. This has continued, giving back much of the hair I had lost.”

They added: “The only drawback for me is that there is a build-up of product on the hair, meaning I have to wash my hair more frequently than usual, but that is a price worth paying. I love the way my hair looks now; what a huge relief!”

Someone else wrote: “I have used the product for years. The product works as directed. If you are patient and expect genuine results, this is for you. It works from deep down the roots, then the length after some months. Once the length start increasing, you develop great volume and beautiful hair that most people envy.”

A third customer wrote: “Only a few days and can already see my hair growing recomend this product highly.” A fourth added: “I can see the results. I have lots of baby hair since I started using it. I’ve used only 1 bottle. Lasted for 2 months.”

However, a different shopper said: “I’ve been using this product for a month and it doesn’t work. I haven’t seen any difference. I bought the women’s one because I saw that my partner was using the men’s version and it was working for him.”

Another said: “I have been using this product for 6 months and have noticed no change in my hair. The product may work for certain people but as stated on the box this is designed for women with hereditary hair thinning which applied to me.

“I have seen no change yet but I will persevere and keep using Regaine for a while longer. Maybe I haven’t used it for long enough.” Someone else shared: “Bought this product recommended by a friend, however it gave me the worst dandruff I have ever had! Scalp itching and had to stop using … Such a waste of money!”
