Two boys, aged 16 and 21, tragically died during a freak accident at work., after the youngest attempted to save his colleague who was sucked into a machine at a quarry factory

A teenager tragically died at a factory whilst trying to save a colleague who was dragged inside a machine as he stood next to a conveyor belt.

The 16-year-old, named Nikita, was killed in the freak accident at the Novosibirsk Quarry Administration in Iskitim, Russia. Nikita was trying to save his colleague, aged 21, after he was pulled into a rock crusher on October 16.b The 21-year-old is said to have sat down on the conveyor belt to have a cigarette before the tragedy struck.

But when he sat down the mechanism was suddenly switched on and he was sucked into the machine. Harrowing footage, which the Mirror has chosen not to share, shows the body of the 16-year-old Samaritan becoming trapped inside the machine as he attempted to save his colleague. According to local media, both of them sadly died in the accident.

It was reported that Nikita had only just finished school and had been working at the factory for 18 months. The authorities are believed to be investigating the tragic incident.

The Mirror previously reported how a boy sliced his finger off whilst on shift at his factory job. The 16-year-old lost his finger whilst helping another employee at the factory during his first day on the job. He was employed shortly after leaving school and started the job at Whitestone Business Park in Hereford on July 15, 2020.

Kidderminster Magistrates Court heard that the boy’s middle finger on his right hand was sliced off while operating a food processing machine, which is used to package dog food. He said he experiences “flashbacks and phantom pains in my finger” and said the incident took a toll on his social life.

The boy, who is now 19, was told to get on a step ladder and put his hands into the hopper bowl to scrape meat into the base, which featured dangerous machinery parts. He was given the instruction despite there being an interlock guard on the machine, the court heard on October 5, 2023.

He had to undergo two operations to close off the wound after his finger was severed. In a statement, he explained: “The emotional effect on me has been huge. At 16 years old I felt so self-conscious, and this stopped me socialising, especially around strangers as they would always ask about my stump.

“I became very snappy with people including my own family because the trauma of what had happened upset me so much, it affected my mood and behaviour. I was experiencing flashbacks and phantom pains in my finger at night-time. Any sound that went snap caused a major flashback because I remember hearing the bone in my finger snap in the machine. I have never returned to the place where this happened, I actually don’t even go down the road where the factory is, the thought of it all still makes me feel sick and faint.”
