Emergency services raced to the scene in Brighton after building collapse sparked a major call out with firefighters having scrambled to the scene at the residential street

A building in Brighton has entirely collapsed in horror scenes, sparking a major emergency call out.

The building collapsed this morning with the cause being unknown at this time. Firefighters were alerted to the incident on Ryde Road with three fire engines attending.

A gas company were called to the scene in order to see if there had been a gas explosion. Gas workers have since confirmed the building did collapse and that no gas explosion made it come down.

No casualties have been reported following the collapse, reported The Sun. Fireifghters remain on scene in order to make sure people remain safe.

Neighbours are reported to have claimed the building had been an old workshop. Photos from the scene showed the roof of the building had collapsed in on itself.

Pieces of the structure could be seen having been scattered in piles on the ground around the building. Residents reported hearing a loud groaning noise before they noticed a massive plume of dust and smoke when the building collapsed.

One local told The Argus the scene resembled something out “a disaster movie.”
