A bride and groom decided to make their vows lighthearted on their big day, but it didn’t quite impress everyone. They’ve defended their decision after critics said they made marriage into a ‘joke’

While wedding vows are personal to each bride and groom, one couple has come under fire for their brutal honesty and were told they should be “ashamed”.

Newlyweds Paul and Kaye Davis, who are swingers, decided to add a touch of humour when it came to their vows but realised it didn’t quite go as anticipated after they shared their vows online.

The pair from Portsmouth promised to love each other unconditionally – or at least until one of them “really f***ed” the other one off. But while it amused their wedding guests, it didn’t go down too well online. They faced social media trolls who didn’t agree with their words calling them “inappropriate” with many slamming them for the audacity to “turn marriage into a joke”.

Paul, a paint sprayer vowed to his new wife: “I promise to be by your side no matter how long it takes for you to choose from the menu when eating out. I promise to tolerate your bad attitude when it is week two of your cycle and to peel you out of your stinking running gear when you get stuck and to love you unconditionally or at least until you really f*** me off,” as reported by Daily Star.

Nurse Kaye then declared: “I promise to be by your side despite you being an impatient d*** when you’re hangry. I promise to listen and show an interest in your conspiracy theories when I’ve only just woken up and my eyes are still stuck together. I will realise that only one of us likes to have our spots squeezed and it isn’t you. And I promise to love you unconditionally or at least until you really f*** me off.”

The wedding was two years ago, but the pair recently shared the footage online, but didn’t expect the negative reaction they received. One man slammed them for being “wholly inappropriate” while another said: “Why would you use this language at a wedding.” A third fumed: “Not funny would be so ashamed if it was my son or daughter.”

However the negativity hasn’t bothered the happy couple, who said they are used to negative comments from people due to being swingers. They said their lifestyle often leads to judgement, but said their only regrets are not “playing the field” sooner after becoming swingers in their 40s.

Speaking about the negative comments, Kaye said: “While the lifestyle is becoming more recognised, some feel we shouldn’t have got married because they don’t understand our dynamics of non-monogamy. But us being married is something we both wanted to complete our relationship.”

The happy wife said neither she nor Paul want to be in a relationship with anyone else and will let the “haters hate” while they love their life together.
