A significant number of Brits feel disconnected from nature despite mental and physical benefits, with a quarter admitting they’ve spent less time outdoors in the past year than they would have liked
A study has revealed that Brits spend just over two hours a month immersed in nature, with a quarter admitting they’ve spent less time outdoors in the past year than they would have liked.
The recent survey by Clipper Tea, which involved 2,000 Brits, highlighted a disconnect between Brits and their outdoor time, particularly during hectic weekdays.
The research indicated that 36% of those surveyed only experience nature during their commute or lunch break, with 23% stating that even this time is restricted. Because of this 21% feel detached from nature entirely.
The majority of respondents expressed a desire to spend more time in nature by 2025. However, obstacles such as time constraints and limited natural environments in their daily lives pose challenges.
In response to this issue, Clipper Tea has teamed up with DJ SUAT, also known as Zach Sabri, to produce a new music track titled Sounds of Nature.
The track fuses the sounds from the natural world with SUAT’s electronic beats, aiming to help Brits reconnect with nature, even if they can’t physically venture outdoors.
The project also champions environmental conservation. Each play of the track on YouTube results in a donation to the Sounds Right Conservation Fund, which supports initiatives by EarthPercent, an organisation dedicated to conservation efforts.
DJ SUAT expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration: “Nature is the perfect stage for what I do-it’s positive, inspiring, and the feel-good vibes are endless,” he said.
“I feel very lucky to have created the Sounds of Nature track with Clipper Tea, with the aim of reconnecting the UK to the wild and wonderful sounds nature provides. Stick the kettle on, stick the song on YouTube, and taste how good nature feels.”
Research highlights the significant mental and emotional benefits of spending time in natural surroundings. Over two-thirds of those surveyed reported that being in nature helps diminish their stress, and 61% say it boosts their mood.
With nearly eight out of ten Brits naming the sounds of nature as one of their favourite aspects of being outside, the collaboration is a way for Brits to experience the positive affects of the great outdoors even when they’re not able to get out.
Clipper Tea’s spokesperson, Hannah Southwick, spoke about the inspiration behind the campaign: “The benefits and wonders of the great outdoors are truly endless.
“At Clipper Tea, we aspire to bring people closer to nature with every cup of tea, and we’re now taking it one step further by reconnecting people with the sounds of nature.”
