A champion bodybuilder was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend during a fight in their apartment in Brazil, according to authorities who released photos of a huge pool of blood in the communal staircase of his building.
Valter de Vargas Aita, 41, was stabbed in his neck, face, abdomen and back during the brutal attack on Sunday morning. The motive remains unclear, though fighting was heard by neighbours.
Gruesome images released by investigators show blood marks left all over the corridors and stairwells as Aita tried to escape before collapsing dead on the stairs of his building in Chapeco, southern Brazil.

Cops were called after neighbors heard the sounds of a vicious fight, and arrived to find Aita already dead, the report said.. His 43-year-old girlfriend, who has not been identified by police, was also stabbed in the fight and taken to the hospital in serious condition, according to the reports.
She already had an outstanding warrant for armed robbery and murder at the time of the killing and was facing a 15-year prison sentence, ClicRDC reported. Police in Brazil have siad they will arrest her on suspicion of murder if she survives.
Police have not revealed the cause of the alleged fight, only saying the pair were involved in a “heated argument” before things turned violent. Aita, a former World Fitness Federation runner-up and five-time state bodybuilding champion, had competed in contests for over a decade.
He also worked as a personal trainer, sharing his diet and workout routines with thousands of followers on social media. The gym where Aita worked remained closed Monday as a mark of respect, it said.. “Forever in our hearts,” the gym said in a statement on social media on Sunday.
Meanwhile in May, another Brazilian bodybuilder, Luiz Garnica, 38, was arrested along with his mum Elizabete Arrabaca, 67, after his wife Larissa Rodrigues, 37, was suddenly found dead in Ribeirao Preto, around 200 miles from Sao Paulo, Brazil, in March.
Pilates teacher Larissa is said to have discovered her husband was cheating on her in the months before her death. A photo of the husband with his lover was sent to police by an anonymous tipster, leading him to confess the cheating to cops.
Cops said the image of the cheating pair in a “public place” led Garnica to admit he had spent the night, after his wife died, with the unnamed lover. The doctor told police he found his wife of 18 years lifeless in their bathroom after returning home.
Garnica and his mum were arrested after toxicology tests showed traces of chumbinho, a pesticide used for agriculture which has been illegally sold as a household rat poison in Brazil, following an initial inconclusive post-mortem.
Larissa allegedly found out her husband had been cheating for around 18 months after she discovered sex toys in his car.
