Hull City manager Tim Walter has failed to impress since replacing Liam Rosenior in the summer and leaves his role with the Tigers languishing in the Championship relegation zone

Hull City have relieved manager Tim Walter of his duties after just six months in charge.

The Tigers caused a stir back in May when they made the controversial decision to replace Liam Rosenior despite finishing seventh in the Championship. Walter, previously of Hamburg, was swiftly installed as his replacement.

But the 49-year-old won just three of his 17 matches at the helm and leaves with Hull languishing in the relegation zone following Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Fans turned on Walter during the match, with some chanting, ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ and, ‘Tim Walter, your football is s***’.

And it seems last night’s loss was one too far, with the club deciding to make a managerial change at a board meeting on Wednesday morning.

The club confirmed the news in a statement, which read: “Hull City can confirm we have parted company with head coach Tim Walter with immediate effect. Assistant head coaches Julian Hübner and Filip Tapalović have also left the club.

“First-team coach Andy Dawson will take interim charge while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a permanent successor.

“We would like to thank Tim, Julian and Filip for their efforts during their time at the MKM Stadium and wish them well for the future.”

Despite the backlash from the terraces, Walter remained defiant in the aftermath of Hull’s latest defeat and admitted he understood where fans were coming from after overseeing a nine-game winless run.

He told Hull Live: “For me, it’s no problem (the abuse). I can understand everything, but for the lads, it’s a problem. They can say what they like against me, it’s no problem. But for the lads, because they are still young and they are not really experienced, it’s even harder than for me. I can understand if you don’t win nine games in a row, then it’s normal.

“I’m angry about me myself, you know, because I want to win games, I want to win games, and I’ve never had that situation. If you look at my statistics, I won more games than I lost, and now I have lost that many games. For me, it’s a horror, really.”
