Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have reportedly split after eight years together, with sources claiming they have gone their separate ways for the ‘final time’

Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have reportedly split after eight years together. Sources have claimed that the pair – who were first linked together back in 2017 – have gone their separate ways for what feels like the “final time”.

One source has claimed that “it feels final this time” for the Materialists star and the Coldplay singer, who started dating severla years ago. They were last seen together two weeks ago in Malibu, back in May.

Back in August, the couple were hit by split rumours. A source had said at the time: “They’ll always have love for each other but they’ve both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term.”

A spokesperson though denied they had split, saying: “They are happily together.” Dakota has previously referred to Chris’ children with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow as her “stepchildren”. The Mirror have contracted the pair’s representatives for comment.

She said: “I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart. How do I feel about motherhood? I’m so open to that. I’ve gotten to this place where I really want to experience everything life has to offer. And especially being a woman, I’m like: ‘What a magical f*****g thing to do. What a crazy, magical, wild experience. If that’s meant to happen for me, I’m totally down for it. We’re not here for very long, so if I’m meant to be a mother, bring it on.”

Chris and Gwyneth share two kids, Apple, 19, and Moses, 17. She said of Chris and Dakota’s relationship: “I love her. I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her.

“I always start to think of the ampersand sign-what else can you bring in, instead of being resistant to or being made insecure by? There’s so much juice in leaning in to something like that.”

Whilst Dakota didn’t directly discuss her own relationship, she did make a comment about love and connection as she promoted her new movie Materialists, which also stars Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal.

“For a long time we’ve all been so quick to judge relationships or how they should happen, how they should exist in the world. When people should get married. Divorce is bad. All these things that actually, if you think about it, why is divorce bad? Why do people have to get married or at a certain age or only once? Why? It doesn’t matter,” she said.
