Moving into a new house can be exciting but it’s also important to always make a checklist to ensure there’s no surprises when you exchange keys. Now often when you buy a new property, you expect everything to be pretty spick and span.

But it’s still pretty normal to feel gobsmacked at what previous owners might have left you. Now one couple recently went through that after what was described as “hitting the jackpot” within two minutes of moving in. Over on TikTok, one woman known as LucyAnn on the platform, has been sharing updates of the family’s home renovation with her 175,000 followers.

It first began when her partner pulled up the carpet to unveil an incredible discovery underneath.

In what looks like a set of vintage tiles, the pair couldn’t believe their luck after spotting it in their 100-year-old home.

The caption read: “Two minutes after getting the keys to our forever home.”

It shows gorgeous tiles under the carpet with Lucy gasping in the background.

People in the comments section were equally amazed as the post garnered 3.9million likes and thousands of comments. One said: “Jackpot.”

While another added: “Broooo someone covered that up?” A third commented: “Ugh that’s amazing. You’re so lucky! I just got asbestos when I lifted mine.”

Someone else joked: “Oh congratulations! 7 minutes after I got the keys I found a leak and mould.”

Other TikTok users were also gasping at the discovery with many claiming all they found was mould and asbestos with their own homes.

Meanwhile in another clip, the couple did a “floor reveal” where they gushed over their the tiles which were left in amazing condition considering the Victorian house is 100 years old.

In another video, Lucy revealed how the family bought their dream home and moved in with their two young children.

But they’re currently in the middle of a big renovation project as it requires a lot of work everywhere.

After being in their home for a short amount of time so far, Lucy claimed they’ve already spotted hidden gems, which includes a sauna the previous owners left.

She revealed: “There are also many many many problems in this house which needs fixing. The previous owners left us this photo of what it looked like once upon a time and we can’t wait to return it back to its former glory.”

Lucy also shared how the couple promised their young children would get a play room in their new home.

“So on the second night of being here, we cracked on with that,” she admitted.

“This is our first renovation project so we’re excited and scared all at the same time.”
