David and Victoria Beckham were said to be close with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, attending their wedding, but things seem to have cooled

David Beckham has ‘nailed his colours the British Royal Family mast’ after snubbing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, an expert has claimed.

Former England captain David, 49, and wife Victoria were recently on the guestlist at a star-studded dinner at Highgrove House, Queen Camilla’s Cotswolds retreat. However the couple were once said to be close friends of Harry and Meghan.

David and Victoria were even guests at the Sussexes wedding in 2018. But their relationship is said to have soured after a ‘frosty’ incident.

In his book House of Beckham, Tom Bower suggests that Meghan was annoyed when The Sun ran a piece about her burgeoning friendship with Victoria, stating: “Their [Meghan and Victoria’s] love of pricey facials and glamorous blow-dries has become the foundation for a growing friendship.”

Victoria was said to be hurt “as that’s the last thing she would ever do”, and it’s said that her husband David and their sons are “holding a major grudge”. Now an expert has claimed David has thrown his support behind Prince William, after saying he has joined forces with the Prince of Wales ‘whenever he’s asked me’.

Despite suggestions that Victoria might be open to reconciling with Meghan, Royal expert Emily Andrews remains “doubtful”, reports the Express. Writing in Woman, she said: “There have been suggestions that Victoria might be happy to make amends with Meghan (although I doubt it, I must admit). But David has very much nailed his colour to the British Royal Family mast – and not the rival court in Montecito.”

One source previously hinted to the Express that there’s no chance David would show disloyalty to King Charles and Queen Camilla, given the warm rapport they enjoy, by “welcoming Harry and Meghan back”.

The source highlighted David’s staunch stance, revealing he is “fiercely protective” of his spouse and doesn’t see why she should reconcile with Harry and Meghan. The insider conveyed: “They’re just so offended and angry on her behalf and think she’s being way too nice about it all. As far as they’re concerned, there is no going back.”

David Beckham, whose illustrious football legacy includes stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, has earned the affectionate moniker “sir in waiting” among his admirers. Scooping up an OBE in 2003, his ongoing knighthood snubs have been a cause for speculation.

Many believe that his leaked emails from 2017, filled with critical remarks about the honours committee, may have bungled his chances at receiving the coveted title.
