Bizarre footage shared online shows the man cleaning himself in full view of children and everyone else in the pool – parents have branded his behaviour ‘disgusting’

A man has been blasted by angry parents after he was filmed doing something very unusual in a children’s pool.

In the bizarre footage circulated online, the man in grey camo swimming shorts is seen bending over and scrubbing himself with soap in a shallow pool, while kids play together just a few feet away. Then – to the horror of onlookers – he begins cleaning his bottom in full view of everyone else More than a million people have now seen the clip after it was being shared on Facebook this week, with many of them branding his behaviour around children “disgusting”.

In the video, believed to have been filmed in Palmerston North, New Zealand, a man behind the camera is heard saying: “What the … he’s got soap, aye. Bro, it’s not a bath.” As he begins scrubbing his bottom, he then says: “Oi, he’s washing his f**king a**.”

A woman then says “Oh, stop it!”, before the other man watching says: “Kids, get out of the pool.” Since going viral the clip has drawn thousands of comments from locals and people further afield, including some who claimed his actions could make others ill. One woman wrote: “This is how I got severely sick in 2021, I was in a spa pool and this guy thought it was a great idea to have to bath in the spa. Within two days I was severely sick with shakes, vomiting, hospital told me I had a infection in the blood, asked me where I [had] been.”

A mum said the pool was usually her “favourite” to take her children to, and asked: “Why is no one saying anything? What’s wrong [with] this guy? No common sense and clearly no running water at home.”

But others leapt to the man’s defence, and one woman wrote: “What’s wrong? I mean isn’t it normal to shower/wash with soap etc. after a swim anyway? It’s OK for kids with stink a***s to swim in a chlorinated pool but not OK for a man to clean himself after a swim? Who’s really the yuck one? The ones who bring their kids here unknowing what happens in those waters or the one who uses soap in a pool with chemicals that’ll kill germs anyway?”.

Others alleged the man was “mentally unwell” and asked why no-one had confronted him, as one wrote: “I agree the behaviour is [disgusting] but I also would have spoken up in the moment not plastered it everywhere.” The Mirror has approached Palmerston North City Council for comment.
