Disney fans have been left upset and confused over the new Pandora Disney princess ring designs, which social media users claim completely misrepresents the iconic characters

Disney recently released a ring collection based on their most popular princesses, but the custom accessories have left fans of the franchise unenchanted – with some even questioning if the people who designed them ever watched the movies.

The Disney x Pandora collection features jewellery based on seven princesses, including Snow White, Princess Tiana, Cinderella, Princess Jazmine, Rapunzel, Belle and Princess Ariel. But it seems that the designers confused their signature colours.

One disgruntled fan took to X posting a now-viral tweet: “WHY IS CINDERELLA GOLD AND JASMINE SILVER????? YOU HAD ONE JOB UGHHHHHHHHH.”

The post showed Cinderella and Jasmine’s rings side-by-side. Cinderella’s ring is gold in colour and studded with diamond-like gems, while Jasmine’s is silver with an ornate star pattern and a glistening sapphire.

Comment were quick to express their shared outrage over the poor design choice, pointing out that Jasmine is always wearing gold in the movies. “Jasmines jewellery is literally gold. Cindi is platinum/silver. This is all wrong!” one commenter wrote.

“This is like when a dude buys a girl an engagement ring in the wrong metal how do you screw this up,” another account said. Some also thought that the designs should be swapped, with one replying: “This doesn’t even make sense, its almost backwards.”

Others questioned why they didn’t draw inspiration from the movies to create the designs. “This is especially strange when you remember that Cinderella’s dress was actually silver in the movie. We just assumed it was blue and it made for better marketing,” a commenter wrote, referencing the 1950s original Disney film, in which the princess’ dress was actually considered to be silver, not blue.

Fans were also unhappy with some of the other princess design choices. One wondered why Tiana’s ring was silver when the princess wore gold in the movie: “The reason I haven’t bought the Tiana one is because it’s silver. Like Tiana wore a gold tiara with a green stone at the end of the damn movie. Why is it silver?”

Some, however, defended the designs, pointing out that Pandora is mainly known for making silver jewellery. “They make a lot of styles, collab or not, in silver because that’s what the brand is mainly known for (i.e., high-quality silver charm bracelets, silver charms….etc),” one commenter wrote.

The popular fashion and pop culture commenter ModernGurlz also took to TikTok to complain about the ring designs, captioning her video critique, “but seriously… who designed these Disney princess rings cus i don’t think they’ve watched the movies.”

She went on to say that most of the rings “don’t really feel like great representation of the princesses”, also pointing out that Ariel’s silver ring would have been more true to character if it were gold and that Rapunzel’s gemstone should have been purple instead of pink. She also questioned why they ignored other iconic Disney heroines, like Mulan and Moana.
