Dr Eric Berg has explained why you should incorporate one common kitchen item into your daily diet
A doctor has highlighted the benefits of an inexpensive product that could significantly enhance your health and well-being. The expert recommends adding a dash of garlic powder to your daily routine for a variety of health benefits.
Dr Eric Berg DC, the author of the bestselling book ‘The Healthy Keto Plan’ and an advocate for healthy ketosis and intermittent fasting, shared insights on the advantages of garlic powder in a recent video on his YouTube channel, which boasts 12.9 million subscribers.
The clip was titled “benefits of garlic powder.” The video’s caption read: “From blood pressure to cholesterol control, Garlic a versatile remedy with antiviral properties.”
During the video, Dr Berg explained: “So right now in your kitchen in your cupboard you probably have this right? Garlic powder this is like a natural remedy for so many different things okay – blood pressure control, cholesterol control, decreasing your risk for cancer.
“It’s antiviral, it’s actually considered a broad spectrum antimicrobial so if you’re concerned about any of the symptoms that I mentioned start including this simple remedy in your foods.”
According to Healthline, current research shows that garlic may have some real health benefits, such as protection against the common cold and the ability to help lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
A 2018 research review suggests that garlic can lower total and LDL (bad) cholesterol. The authors recommend that people with high cholesterol eat more garlic but caution that more research is needed to verify their findings.
However, garlic does not seem to have the same effect on triglyceride levels, another risk factor for heart disease, and research also suggests that garlic does not have an effect on HDL (good) cholesterol. Garlic supplements also appear to improve blood pressure for those with known high blood pressure.
In some cases, supplements may be as effective as regular medications
