Donald Trump’s former aide, Anthony Scaramucci, claims the firebrand republican is the exact President that Russian leader Vladimir Putin wants in the White House

A former aide during Donald Trump’s first term in office has given a scathing assessment of his former boss’s relationship with Vladimir Putin – claiming he is being used a “puppet”.

Trump’s former aide, Anthony ‘The Mooch’ Scaramucci, claims the firebrand Republican leader is the exact president that the Russian dictator wants in the White House. It comes as Trump blamed Ukraine for the ongoing war in Europe and yesterday labelled Zelensky a ‘dictator’ amid a host of other controversial statements.

The US president also froze Ukraine and other European nations from attending talks to bring the war to an end, which are being tabled by Saudi Arabia. The US team, led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, sat down with Vladimir Putin’s representatives including Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov amid fears of a capitulation.

Lavrov hinted he is not prepared to make concessions ahead of the talks, while US has already indicated key Ukrainian demands are ‘unrealistic’. Worried European leaders have warned that Putin will strike again if a peace agreement is weak and not backed up with a US security guarantee.

And now, echoing these sentiments Mr Scaramucci – who briefly served as the White House Director of Communications between July 21 and July 31, 2017 – claims Trump is doing exactly what Putin wants by positioning the US in a triumvirate of evil with Russia and China.

Speaking to Saxo, he said: “If you said to me, who would you want to have in the White House if you’re Vladimir Putin? It’s Donald J. Trump. And so, let me explain this because it’s very important; the Russians see themselves as a cynical government. The Russians see themselves as the people of Russia working for the cynical government and Vladimir Putin, it’s his country, or as Louis the 14th would say, I am the state. There’s a cynicism to that. There’s negativity to that.

“So now, if I were Vladimir Putin, what would I want in a president of the United States? I would want him to go to Europe, get his vice president to rebuke and scold Europe. Imagine Ronald Reagan going to Berlin or Munich and scolding Europe instead of saying that we’re together.

“And I would want the United States to flex itself against the rest of the world and create a trilateral of meanness: China, the United States, and Russia, and then the rest of the world. And that’s what’s going on. That’s what Trump wants. He’s got four years to do that, He’s term-limited.”

The US President has sparked worldwide condemnation after his vicious attacks on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump – who looks poised to sell out Ukraine and Europe as he cosies up to Vladimir Putin – has branded Zelensky a “dictator without elections”.

In a brazen rewriting of history he claimed Ukraine was responsible for the war breaking out in 2022. He also claimed Mr Zelensky could have made a deal to end it.
