Pop singer Dua Lipa is set to marry actor and model Callum Turner after they became engaged over the festive season – less than a year after they were first linked together
Dua Lipa is engaged after less than a year of dating actor boyfriend Callum Turner.
The 29-year-old New Rules singer was first linked to 34-year-old Harry Potter actor Callum in January this year. But now, as a new year is on the horizon, it appears the pair are prepared to spend the rest of their lives together after he got down on one knee to propose.
The chart-topping star seemingly casually announced her engagement while sharing a collection of images on Instagram – with fans failing to spot a huge ring on her wedding finger. Taking to Instagram before Christmas Day, the singer wrote: “home for the holidays sending you all so much love.”
Images showed Dua flashing a beaming smile while she relaxed and posed in a number of positions. She shared a photo of herself sitting on a chair with her hands in her lap and she scrunched up her face with joy – and her ring-clad hands on full display.
Further images showed Dua embracing the festive spirit – with scenes of fine dining, gift wrapping, and spending time with friends filling her carousel of images. Days after the snaps were released, reports emerged that Dua and Callum – who starred in Harry Potter spin-off series Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – had become engaged.
A source told The Sun: “Dua and Callum are so in love and know this is forever. They are engaged and couldn’t be happier. Dua has had one of the best years of her career professionally and this is the cherry on the cake. Callum is such a solid support for Dua and they make a wonderful couple. Their family and friends are so happy. It’s been an amazing Christmas for them.” The Mirror has contacted representatives of the pair for comment.
Back in January, TMZ reported that Dua and Callum had been spotted getting close at a premiere party for his Apple TV+ show, Masters of the Air. They reported at the time: “[It’s] unclear why Dua was there, she doesn’t have any official tie to this show as far as we can tell, but she was front and center at the shindig that was being held at Avra in Bev Hills … the back entrance which was slightly cracked open, leading to a room where Dua could be seen getting cozy with a dude … and slow dancing the night away, albeit briefly. They’re only swaying here for a bit, and at one point … it even looks like she may have gone in for a kiss, although it’s hard to tell for sure. It sure looks romantic, though.” The “dude” in question was eventually identified as Callum.
That same month, Dua herself opened up about her views on dating, telling Rolling Stone: “Dating, I think overall, is just a little confusing… It’s either through friends of friends or people you trust where you can meet new people, because [dating] is not really so straightforward when you are, I guess, a public person.”
Harper’s Bazaar reported the couple enjoyed spending time together after the BRIT Awards back in March. They reported at the time: “They are photographed together in the back of a car on their way to the post–Brit Awards bash, wearing big smiles and engaging in some PDA, with Lipa sweetly resting her hand on Turner’s thigh. The singer looks as cool as ever in a maroon leather motorcycle jacket, while the actor goes all-black in a bomber jacket and jeans.”
The engagement news has taken fans completely by surprise – with one fan writing on X: “DUA LIPA ENGAGED WHATT????” Another typed: “I JUST AM SO HAPPY FOR MY WOMAN! She deserves this! She just… The feels!” While a further fan lamented their chance to marry the pop singer themselves, writing: “It was supposed to be me and Dua Lipa” alongside a string of broken heart emojis.
