With summer around the corner, those who struggle to sleep at night might find it even more difficult due to the heat. If you’d rather save on electricity and avoid using a fan overnight, then you can opt for cooling bedding.

Speciality-designed bedding, such as pillows and mattress toppers, regulates your body temperature while you sleep. This results in less time tossing and turning and a better night’s sleep.

Dunelm is well known for its bedding and offers a wide range of covers, duvets, blankets and more. It also has a cooling bedding range, which includes a Cooler Than Memory Foam Mattress Topper.

The Cooler Than Memory Foam Mattress Topper comes in single (£65), double (£75), king (£85) and superking (£95). It has more than 290 reviews with some buyers saying it has helped them sleep better.

There are cheaper alternatives available on the high street. For instance, Amazon has a SilentNight Airflow Double Mattress Topper, on offer from £29.99 (down from £49.99), it’s made with Airflow technology and deep dual layers, which allow air to move freely.

Alternatively, Debenhams is selling a Home Republic Cooling Mattress Topper, with prices from £32.95, knocked down from £42.95. Its advanced cooling technology helps regulate body temperature, drawing heat away from the body for a refreshing night’s rest.

On Dunelm’s Cooler Than Memory Foam Mattress Topper, one buyer said: “I went down to the store and looked at some display samples to compare this with the other memory foam toppers. I am really happy that I went with this mid-range option, as I saved money, and I think the quality is also very good.”

They continued: “It has changed my sleeping quality. And if you don’t like a snug fit, then this is the option to go for as the thickness is just enough to be comfortable without sinking you in. It doesn’t get hot either. I am about 80kg. Totally suggest it!”

A second added: “Comfortable and soft giving a great night’s sleep. Great buy and value for money.”

However, a third wasn’t as pleased after washing it. They said: “Says machine washable, I have had this item for less than a month. I’ve washed it, but the zips are broken now. I wouldn’t entertain this product.”

A fourth said: “This is the second one I have purchased, and I am extremely impressed with the quality and comfort, not hot like a memory foam one.”

A fifth said: “Delivery spot on, mattress topper has given me a comfy sleep, without cost of expensive full mattress. So comfy! Would recommend.”

A sixth Dunelm purchaser concluded: “Comfy topper. It made a real difference to my sleeping.”
