GB News host Eamonn Holmes has revealed he is ready to move on from a ‘tough year’ as he focuses on his new romance amid his divorce from wife Ruth Langsford

Eamonn Holmes has admitted the past year has been “tough” as he moves on with his new relationship.

The GB News host, 64, shocked fans earlier this year when he split from wife Ruth Langsford. They had been married for 14 years and together over two decades. Eamonn soon moved on with new girlfriend Katie Alexander and this week made their first showbiz event debut together.

The pair attended the lavish Irish Post Awards on Thursday night, marking their first as a couple. A source exclusively told the Mirror : “While Eamonn waited for the ceremony to begin he enjoyed his dinner in the company of his new girlfriend Katie. The pair seemed relaxed and were inseparable.”

While at the event Eamonn could be seen next to Katie, who made an elegant appearance in a silky black dress with her hair tied into a stylish updo. Eamonn, who has also struggled with his health in the past year, revealed: “It’s been a tough year and I’ll be glad to see the back of it.”

“But there are lots of things to be grateful for and I hope that my health improves next year,” he added to the Sun. While it has been reported that Eamonn and Katie met on social media, the publication recently claimed that they had been in contact “12 years ago.” A source told them: “We knew Eamonn and Katie got together via social media, but no one knew how far back they went.

“Ruth will be shocked they were in contact 12 years ago. I don’t think she would have known.” Ruth’s legal team are now pulling together a “forensic” timeline of Eamonn’s new relationship ahead of divorce talks. An insider told the Mirror: “Ruth’s legal team are compiling a forensically detailed account of Eamonn’s relationship with Katie and when it started. Ruth’s team are doing their due diligence ahead of the divorce proceedings. They are prepared to speak to people in Ruth and Eamonn’s wider circle.”

The source added: “Katie and Eamonn have been scrambling around to tell their respective exes that they were not romantically involved way back then.” Ruth is said to have hired £400-an-hour lawyer Catherine Costley, who previously worked under the country’s top divorce lawyer, Baroness Fiona Shackleton, who represented the King in his split from Diana, as well as Sir Paul McCartney.

The Loose Women star is yet to address their split in her own words, however has made a series of cryptic comments. Ruth recently made a joke at Eamonn, while talking about hoarding. Speaking on the ITV show, she said: “I’m throwing out a lot of stuff out at the minute!” prompting laughter from the audience.

Eamonn and Katie are thought to have been dating for six months. They headed on a lavish Mediterranean cruise over the summer together. Katie is a mum-of-three and was previously married to bar owner George Alexander. The couple separated in 2022, with Eamonn not linked to their split.
