A new documentary goes behind the scenes of England’s Euro 2024 campaign as seen through the eyes of the country’s young football stars. Now available to stream for free on Prime Video, England’s Lions: The New Generation features exclusive interviews with Cole Palmer, Kobbie Mainoo, Marc Guehi and Ollie Watkins.

The feature-length documentary chronicles their experiences throughout their career as they navigate the immense pressure and glory of representing England. It includes behind-the-scenes footage of the players’ journeys at Euro 2024, which saw the Three Lions reach their second consecutive European final.

Chelsea’s Palmer was on the scoresheet that day thanks to a second half goal, with England ultimately suffering heartbreak once again as they lost the game 2-1 to Spain. Among the standout moments recalled in the film are England’s flawless penalty shootout against Switzerland and Jude Bellingham’s now-infamous overhead kick, which saved the team from an early exit in the dying seconds of their round of 16 fixture against Slovakia.

The England’s Lions official synopsis reads: “The film provides intimate access to these players’ journeys, from their grassroots beginnings to the cauldron of the European Championships. The documentary will delve into the player’s origin stories: from playing non-league football, to rejection at academy level, the film uncovers the realities of fighting your way to the top, culminating in all four playing a major role at last year’s European Championships.”

The documentary is put together with match footage and behind-the-scenes access at Euro 2024 that captures the emotional rollercoaster that is a major international tournament. It also shows how the players battle past failures, media scrutiny and the responsibility of carrying the nation’s hopes on their shoulders.

As well as the players themselves, the film hears from pundits and former players including Jamie Carragher and Alan Shearer, alongside key contributions from the young stars’ friends and family. Elsewhere, Sky has launched a discounted sports package that provides access to Premier League and EFL matches, plus every practice, qualifier and race live in the upcoming Formula 1 season.
