Fearne Cotton, who recently announced the end of her marriage, compiled a series of clips about therapy and mental health for the latest episode of her Happy Place podcast

Fearne Cotton revealed she attends therapy sessions every week as she ‘falls into self-loathing’ and ‘berates herself’.

The 43-year-old compiled a series of clips about therapy and mental health for the latest episode of her Happy Place podcast, in hopes of helping people make the first move in ‘booking their sessions’. Introducing the episode, Fearne said she attends sessions every week and added: “It’s something I definitely don’t wanna miss, don’t feel like I could miss, actually.

“It has helped me insurmountably, it’s kind of hard to explain. The reason it’s helped me is stuff from the past still troubles me greatly that I need to constantly find tools to land on some peace with. That’s a big one for me and I think we’ve all got little cycles and habits we fall into and mine is to be really bloody horrible to myself.

“I can be a right arsehole to myself internally and berate myself and fall into self-loathing. Some of that is related to the past.” The TV presenter added to listeners: “Therapy helps me not fall into a self-loathing spiral. It’s helped me massively. I’ll say it’s changed my life, actually.”

It comes after Fearne opened up about embracing her “new era” of life following her shock split from Jesse Wood. The star took to social media in December to share the shocking news that she and Jesse were separating after 10 years of marriage.

Fearne, who shares two children, and 11-year-old son named Rex and eight-year-old daughter called Honey with Jesse, said: “I feel really excited about what’s coming next” during a chat with wellness brand Ancient + Brave, with whom her hit podcast Happy Place has joined forces.

Discussing her “new era”, Fearne said: “With my kids a bit older, I feel I’m in a new era. It’s simple things like walking – if I’m back-to-back recording or I’m on a writing deadline, if I can get an hour’s walk at some point in the day where I just listen to really beautiful music, it makes me feel really happy.”

The radio DJ and podcast host continued: “That is usually enough to just reset me somewhat. What I’m trying to do now is go “no”, I need to schedule in a bit of fun and let loose a little bit. That for me is balance because the balance had tipped the other way for me where everything was a schedule. Having joyful moments of fun with people that I love is something that I’m really getting back and it feels so good.”
