Home cook Chloe has shared her unique recipe for the mouth-watering festive treat – and it only takes five minutes to create and cook in the air fryer

The hunt for a quirky alternative to the traditional Christmas pudding might just be over, courtesy of a recipe that has taken Instagram by storm featuring that festive chocolate staple – the Terry’s Chocolate Orange.

The recipe for the air fryer dessert has been shared on Instagram, where users of the social media platform were left drooling in anticipation. Its creator, Chloe, posted an enticing video which opens with a tantalising shot of the delectable treat, oozing melted chocolate as she gives it a squeeze.

In her step-by-step guide, Chloe first trims the crust off a slice of white bread, before adding two segments of Terry’s Chocolate Orange in the centre. Next, she adds egg wash to the edges and folds it over to conceal the chocolatey goodness inside.

After pressing a fork around the edges to seal it, Chloe then applies egg wash to the entire outside and pops it into the air fryer for four to five minutes at 170C until it turns golden. For the finishing touch – and maximum indulgence – she suggests a sprinkling of icing sugar and a drizzle of more melted chocolate orange on top.

One foodie fan expressed their excitement in response: “The hack I didn’t know I needed, omg.” Another added: “I will definitely be making this as chocolate orange is my favourite chocolate.”

A cheeky third Instagram user exclaimed: “I can’t wait to have my own house and make these and not have to share it! ” Meanwhile, a fourth hailed: “Looks fab. The McDonald’s one is horrid, bet this is way better.”

Bargain hunters take note – the most wallet-friendly deals for a Terry’s Chocolate Orange are currently at Aldi and Tesco; both are offering the golden 157g box at the sweet price of £1.49.

Shoppers will find themselves shelling out a smidge more at Asda, Sainsbury’s, and Co-op, where the treat has a price tag of £1.50 – but only if you’re a Nectar card holder at Sainsbury’s. If not, be prepared to cough up £1.95.

Yet, even the non-cardholder price is a bargain compared to Morrisons and Waitrose, which have marked the chocolate delight at £2.
