N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos revealed that she was demisexual on I’m A Celebrity this week and admitted that she has been celibate for three years. Find out the five signs which could mean you are demisexual too

Tulisa Contostavlos opened up about her sexuality to her I’m A Celebrity campmates this week.

N-Dubz singer Tulisa, 36, revealed that she was demisexual and admitted that she has been celibate for three years to her fellow ITV stars. However what does it mean to be demisexual?

Experts say demisexuality is a sexual orientation in which a person feels sexually attracted to someone only after they’ve developed a close emotional bond with them.

It doesn’t guarantee a person will feel a sexual attraction to a person even if they have a bond, but the bond is needed before sexual activity is even possible.

But how do you know if you’re demisexual yourself? One LGBTQ content creator, known as @lynnsaga on TikTok has taken to the site to share a video where she revealed ‘five signs that may show you’re demisexual’.

The first sign Lynn revealed what having to know a person for a while before you develop a sexual attraction.

Meanwhile the second was finding it ‘takes you a while to actually develop the sexual attraction’. She added: “It can be months to years, depending on the demisexual.”

Third on Lynn’s list was being confused the first time you have sexual attraction, while number four is not really being interested in one-night-stands or hook-ups. “You don’t really get why people do that,” Lynn said.

The fifth sign Lynn mentioned is finding that physical attraction takes a ‘back seat’ to other forms of attraction.

People were loving the explainer, with the video racking up more than 12,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

One person wrote: “I thought everyone was like that until I started hearing people do have sex on first day or have friend with benefits or one night stand.”

While someone else said: “I just found out that I’m demisexual.. and I’m happy to know more about myself, but sad because I’m already antisocial and I just want someone.”

A third chimed in: “Demisexual sounds like a smart way to get to know someone.”

Many others also still had more questions, as one person asked: “Can l be straight and demi? Demi feels so me.” Someone else replied: “Yes you can, I am.”

While someone else probed: “I’m confused, thats just pansexual? Everyone as different timestamps for relationships, I don’t think that means that it needs to have another category.” Someone replied: “No, pansexual means ur attracted to all genders. Demi just means you only feel sexual attraction to people you emotionally connect with.”
