Chef Kelly Scott has shared the four ways you can cook fried eggs, depending on how you like your eggs. But she also revealed the best way for perfect eggs every time

Eggs are a fantastic food staple, perfect for most meals and not only nutritious but also scrumptious.

However, frying them can be a bit tricky for some. Fear not, as a culinary whizz has spilled the beans on the secret to perfect fried eggs every time. Chef Kelly Scott, better known as kellyscleankitchen on TikTok, has revealed that there are four different methods to fry an egg, tailored to how you prefer your yolks.

For those seeking foolproof fried eggs, she suggests a simple trick: just add one key ingredient to your pan. This magic component will help you achieve flawless eggs on each occasion.

According to Chef Kelly, the golden rule is to always cook fried eggs in butter, ditching the oils for this particular dish. She advises: “For all four of the fried eggs, we’re going to go into a non-stick pan with butter and, once that’s frothy, drop the egg in. Always cook your fried eggs over a medium to low heat, because we’re not going for crispy edges.

“For sunny side, just cook until the whites are set, and then remove. The yolk should be runny. An over-easy fried egg is that, but then you flip it and cook it for 10 seconds on the other side. The third kind of fried egg is an over-medium fried egg.”

And for those who like their yolks a bit firmer, she says: “For medium, you flip it and then you cook it for one minute on the opposite side. This creates almost like a jammy yolk instead of a runny yolk.

“Lastly, if you’re going for an over-hard fried egg, you’re going to flip it and then you’re going to crush the yolk. This will ensure the yolk is completely cooked through.”

Since the video was posted, it’s been viewed over 100,000 times, with hordes of viewers weighing in with their thoughts and tips on the best way to cook an egg. Hundreds have aired their views, sparking a hearty debate, reports the Express.

One egg enthusiast said: “A good cook knows there are more than four ways to cook a fried egg.” Another chimed in: “I always put a lid on to steam them, and cook the egg white on top of the runny egg. I hate that bit raw.”

A third contributed: “Jammy yolk, but I also like a runny yolk. I need my whites cooked,” while yet another added: “I order over-medium, but no one ever gets it right. The best you can hope for is cooked whites.”
