Oasis will kick off their hotly anticipated reunion tour this summer – with Liam Gallagher’s sons Gene and Lennon sharing their musical influences as they prepare to join the band on tour
The Gallagher brothers have given a joint interview and claimed Kurt Cobain is the greatest frontman – but all is not quite as it seems. The chat for Icon magazine is actually between Liam’s sons Gene and Lennon Gallagher around a fashion photoshoot. And it turns out Lennon is a big lifelong fan of Nirvana.
And whilst the pair are set to join Liam at gigs this Summer for the Oasis Live 25 tour which kicks off in Cardiff in July. Lennon, who counts Patsy Kensit as his mum, said: “Kurt Cobain was always number one. As a child I watched Nirvana’s videos religiously.”
Younger brother Gene, who is the son of Nicole Appleton and Liam said: “It was Lennon who got me into harder music. As a kid I liked the Who and the Beatles, and he was the one who kept me up to date with what was happening on the music scene.”
The pair both pose in a variety of designer suits and coats for the magazine fashion shoot.
And Gene spoke of going on tour with his band Villanelle and trying to make it big. He was a support act last year for Liam’s Definitely Maybe solo tour. On being related to frontman Liam, Gene admitted: “The pressure is there, but it’s a good pressure. It’s exciting and motivating.”

Lennon said of his dad’s presence in life: “The expectations and continuous comparisons have always been there and they always will be.”
The article also seems to suggest the brothers have only met their uncle Noel a few times in their life, although this will change soon when they attend Oasis rehearsals and shows.
Noel and Liam will walk on stage for the first time together since the band split in 2009 on July 4 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. The line up for the band is also now thought to have been completed with rehearsals also expected to start soon.
Liam and Noel Gallagher are bringing in newcomer Joey Waronker on drums alongside more established former Oasis band members on guitars.
The full line up reported by NME is said to be Liam Gallagher, Noel Gallagher, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Joey Waronker. The shows will also feature special guests Richard Ashcroft and Cast, who are friends up the band. At this stage it is not thought Villanelle will be in a support slot so Gene will instead be watching from the sidelines with Lennon.
