A TikTok user has shown followers how to keep fruit fresh for longer with her hack which ensured there was nothing which would cause it to go mouldy
A social media user has shown others how she stores her fresh fruit to keep it fresh for days.
The woman, who posts on TikTok as @Kyaraepsi, shows her followers how she ensures the food is free from any thing which might cause it to go mouldy. With the heading: ‘How I get my fruit to last 12 days in the fridge’, she proceeds to rise her berries and grapes and lays them out on kitchen paper. This encourages the moisture to disappear before she goes on to the next stage of her hack. She says: “Let it dry. Typically let it dry for about two to three hours.”
The TikTok poster, @Kyaraepsi, then lines some dry containers with fresh paper towels and transfers the fruit on top of them before adding more paper on top. A final stage sees her adds the lids of the containers and then she says: “I’m done’. She adds a final ‘pro tip’ at the end of the video which says: “Change out the paper towels after 6-7 days to help keep your fruity fresh.”
One commenter said: “Thanks!! As a twin mom I need my bulk fruit to last longer!” Another person who responded, gave her own hint. She said: “Add vinegar next time.” In another ‘livesaving’ fruit storage tip reported by The Mirror, Jack, also known as @scottishinkorea, said storing your fruit in a certain way, you can minimise waste and avoid spending money topping things up when they start to go bad – and it means you’ve always got a healthy snack on the go whenever you need it too.
In his video, Jack explained: “This is my simple hack to get fruit to last longer. No waste, it’s always delicious, it’s always there and I’m saving money in the process as well.” It couldn’t be simpler to do either. All you need to do is take your fresh fruit of choice – Jack used a combination of strawberries, blueberries, grapes, cherries and kiwis – and slice them up into very small chunks.
Then, simply add it all to a sealable box and stick it in the freezer. Jack said: “The great thing about this is you can sprinkle it over yoghurt, you can sprinkle it over literally anything. You could even heat it up with a bit of sugar and have it as a dessert with some ice cream. “This is a way that I can make them last a lot longer because I know that not one single morsel will be wasted.” After cutting up all the fruit and freezing the box for a couple of hours, Jack showed off the results – a beautiful frozen fruit salad tailor-made to suit your own tastes, ready to eat whenever you like.
