Shoppers could save thousands of pounds thanks to the stylish high-street offering from Marks and Spencer
M&S is stocking a crossbody bag that looks strikingly similar to a designer alternative. Last year, the high-street giant made waves with its M&S Collection, which featured a lookalike of Celine’s £2,550 classic bag.
M&S’s offering quickly went viral, selling out within 24 hours as shoppers rushed to purchase the in-demand bag. Now, M&S is offering another take on the popular style.
The high street retailer has a number of other styles on offer too, including the Quilted Bowler Bag for £39.50, the Suede Cross Body Bag for £49.50, and the Woven Shoulder Bag for £39.50. Just as before, the new M&S Faux Leather Cross Body Bag is a stylish box bag with a clasp front and adjustable strap, with a sleek, rounded look similar to Celine’s designer bag.

However, it’s priced at £35, giving shoppers a discount of more than £2,000 compared to the original price of the cult Celine bag, which is no longer available on the brand’s website but remains popular on resale sites. Available in caramel, black, and green, M&S’s version is made from faux leather, while Celine’s offering is calfskin. It also varies from the previous M&S lookalikes, with different detailing on the clasp.
According to the description, the new £35 bag ‘is a versatile accessory, perfect for everyday use’. The brand added: “It’s designed with an adjustable strap, so you can wear it as a cross-body or shoulder bag. A drop lock fastening keeps your belongings secure. Inside, you’ll find two compartments and a zip pocket to keep your essentials organised.”
Shoppers love M&S’s take on the classic style, with several reviewers praising the quality of the bag, though some would have preferred the bag in a larger size.
Someone praised: “If you only buy one bag this season make it this one. It looks great and is great quality.” A second thought: “Well made, compact and lovely colour,” and another fan said: “Gorgeous colour, great size to fit phone, lipstick, glasses etc in.”
But someone else wrote: “This is a great bag in many ways. I love the colour and it seems quite roomy. There are many separate compartments. However, I’m finding it a squeeze to take a very slim wallet. Compact lipstick, tooth comb and phone. Add a couple of tissues and that’s your lot!”
Elsewhere, shoppers might like New Look’s take on the leather-look cross-body bag, available in black, tan and mink for £24.99, or Charles and Keith’s £69 Charlot Bag available in a range of colours, which is less minimalistic in design but looks just as elegant as its sleek counterparts.
