The Chatelherault Country Park not only has a grand house and sprawling woodland walks – it also boasts beautiful riverside paths and an adventure playground for the kids

One of the joys of this season is witnessing the vibrant autumn colours, and luckily, Glasgow is surrounded by numerous parks and estates perfect for this. One such place, offering not just a grand house and woodland walks but also charming riverside paths, an adventure playground for the little ones, and even a farmer’s market, is Chatelherault Country Park.

Located in Hamilton, just a 25-minute drive from Glasgow, this park is brimming with activities. As one of Scotland’s oldest and most beautifully designed estates, it’s an ideal spot for visitors, particularly families with pets, given its variety of attractions.

The impressive country house features an in-house coffee shop for refreshments and offers stunning views. Visitors can stroll around the pristine greens or venture into the woodlands alongside the River Avon – perfect for adventurous children and energetic pets.

Don’t miss the remarkable Duke’s bridge that spans the gorge below, providing breathtaking views that were hidden for years. Here, you can admire the golds, reds, oranges, and yellows of the trees, as well as the river below.

There’s also an adventure park for kids to expend some energy. And if you visit on a Sunday, you’ll have the chance to explore the fantastic Chatelherault Farmer’s Market, typically open from 10 am until 3 pm, reports Glasgow Live.
