A woman has recalled a disastrous date that started out okay but descended into chaos when the man told her all about his ‘creepy’ fantasy – and made her run for the hills
Navigating the world of dating can lead to some strange experiences.
If you’ve ever spent any time on dating apps, you’ll know that not everyone you match with is going to be right for you. Maybe you don’t like the same music, and that’s a dealbreaker for you, or perhaps you both have conflicting views on politics that would make a relationship unbearable.
But one woman has said her experience with dating apps was a little bit stranger than most, as it put her in touch with a man who confessed a “creepy” secret fantasy to her. Hannah Davies shared the story on her TikTok account after one of her followers requested to hear it – and it’s quite the tale.
Hannah began by stating the events took place in 2019 when she had just gotten out of a long-term relationship. The break-up led her to try dating apps for the first time, and she “didn’t know” what she was doing as she hadn’t been single since she was a teenager, so she “didn’t really know how dating worked”.
She eventually matched with a man who she found “sexy.” The pair had been messaging every day for around two weeks when he asked if they could meet at a pub near where Hannah lived, to which she agreed. She noted that he “did get a little bit weirder” in the time between planning the date and attending it, including sending her “full-body nudes”.
Hannah brushed off his behaviour as she believed it was just all part of the dating process and ended up going on the date anyway. She explained that her date had told her he was vegan but said he didn’t care if she ate meat as long as she didn’t do it in front of him. With this in mind, she ordered herself some cheesy garlic mushrooms when they met up – only for him to “yell” at her anyway.
She said: “He shouted at me in the pub, surrounded by people. This was within the first 10 minutes of our date, and he shouted at me. He went on to lecture me about how eating cheese is basically torturing animals. So by eating cheesy garlic mushrooms, I was basically murdering animals.”
And his outburst over cheese wasn’t even the weirdest part of their date. The man later began talking to Hannah about the items on his bucket list, and what he said made her want to run for the hills. He confessed that, despite being a vegan, the top item on his bucket list is “to consume human flesh”.
Hannah detailed: “At this point, I was like, ‘Hmm, maybe this isn’t how normal dates work, maybe this is a red flag’. So I did go home, and I did not go on another date with him. I don’t know if he’d had too many drinks and didn’t remember what he said, but he was genuinely confused about why I wouldn’t want a second date with him.”
Commenters on the post were horrified by what they’d heard, with many pointing out the contradictory nature of the man being against eating animals but okay with cannibalism. Others said they couldn’t believe Hannah had stayed on the date for that long, but were thankful she had because it meant she had a good story to tell.
One person said: “Love that you just kinda stayed for the plot. I can’t blame you. Also, as a vegan, I’m so sorry.”
Another added: “Animal flesh bad, people flesh yummy. I don’t think that will catch on as the vegan society’s new motto.”
Bizarrely, there is no specific law against cannibalism in the UK. However, if someone is killed for the purpose of being eaten, it would be considered murder. Consuming the flesh of someone who has already died is not explicitly illegal but could be considered an offence if the act is deemed offensive or indecent.
In 1988, sculptor and artist Rick Gibson publicly ate donated human tonsils in Walthamstow High Street, London. Because the tonsils were legally obtained, no crime was committed.
