A hotel worker went viral after sharing the one item in a hotel room that she would never, ever touch – and it’s something that most guests are likely to have come into contact with

A hotel worker has dropped a bombshell about the cleanliness of the rooms – and it’s enough to make your skin crawl.

Despite expectations of pristine conditions, Evangeline, an employee at an unnamed hotel, has revealed in a viral TikTok video that not everything is as squeaky clean as guests might hope.

While bedsheets and toilets get a regular scrub, she warns that other items are often neglected. In her eye-opening clip, @queenevangeline shares that she always gives the TV remote a thorough wipe with an antibacterial wipe before channel surfing.

But shockingly, it’s not the grimiest spot in the room. The real culprit? The bedspread. Evangeline never touches the decorative cover found at the foot of the bed, immediately tossing it aside upon entering her room.

She claims some hotels may not wash these bedspreads for up to a year, branding them the filthiest feature of any hotel room. Her advice after working in the industry: “I would never sit on the bedspread. I would never make myself comfortable on the bedspread. That thing comes off the first minute I walk into the hotel. Those things are not washed often.”

“Today, high-end hotels have improved, if you notice the white bedspreads, those are actually flat sheets that are fine. However, if it’s not that and it’s an actual bedspread, those things get cleaned maybe once a year. Avoid sitting on those.”

Apart from not using the TV remote before it’s been wiped, Evangeline also advised against using the provided glasses for drinking without washing them first. Furthermore, the hotel worker suggested including the names of all room occupants on the reservation, as if the named person is out and the other person needs their own key, they won’t be granted access to the room if they’re not listed on the reservation.

Commenters on the post were shocked by the woman’s revelations, with many saying they will now remove the bedspread as soon as they enter their hotel rooms during future trips. One person said: “Bedspreads get cleaned once a year? ! I don’t care what it is if it isn’t every time. AHH!”

Another added: “As a former housekeeper, clean everything before use. They don’t give the housekeepers enough time to truly clean a room.” A third wrote: “Same thing with the little accent pillows. Don’t lay on them!”
