Kate Keogh went on a cruise with her 73-year-old mum and 79-year-old dad – on TikTok she shows her 57,000 followers the nice dinners they dressed up for and the activities they did

Some people may dread the thought of going on holiday with their parents – but one woman has taken to TikTok to show how travelling with her mum and dad was an unforgettable experience.

Kate Keogh showed her and her parents going on a cruise with her 73-year-old mum and 79-year-old dad. In the clip, she shows her 57,000 followers the nice dinners they dressed up for, the incredible views of the ocean and the activities they did.

Kate and her parents spent their time on Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, which are smaller ships than the mega cruises that carry thousands of passengers. Kate described the ship as a “super elevated luxurious way to cruise”.

In the video, clips show the mum and daughter enjoying a spa day, an afternoon tea and even a silent disco. As a family, Kate also enjoyed going to the evening shows with her parents.

All three are seen smiling and laughing throughout the video as they explore the countries of Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Tunisia and Spain. Kate also showcased the incredible food she had on her holiday.

With all the amazing things Kate and her parents got to do, she said the best part of her holiday was spending time with her mum and dad.

She told her followers: “The best part of all really was just spending some real quality time with my mum and dad. They’re 73 and 79 now and they both have had quite big operations in the last year or so to think we’ve had this amazing opportunity just to explore the world in such a special way we made so many lovely memories and I’m going to treasure them forever.

If you’re thinking about going on a cruise there are items you are not allowed to bring on board. Bizarre items which cannot be taken include a skateboard or roller skates which are banned aboard a Princess ship. Another cruise liner operator Costa Cruises lists tattoo-making kits among its banned items. Other items such as balloons or handcuffs cannot be taken aboard a P&O Cruises ship.

Many of the banned items are outlawed for health and safety reasons. Cruise operators aim to stop fires, accidents and even violent incidents. This explains why baseball bats are certainly not permitted on board, as they fall into the category of offensive weapons.

There are also restrictions on personal alcohol which can be brought aboard, but many believe this is more about the operator wanting to make money in the cruise ship’s bars. Bags are scanned before being delivered to your cabin. Items which have been blacklisted will be confiscated and luggage access will be delayed. Worse still, you could be prevented from boarding.

Rules on cruise lines can change quickly and each operator’s list of banned items varies. Royal Caribbean has now said no to multi-plug outlets in a new restriction. It’s vital to check with the cruise line if unsure.
