Zac Jones, from Liverpool, stayed at The Grand Hotel in Llandudno, which he claims is the worst-rated in North Wales – but he was surprised by what he found.
A man who pitched up at one of the UK’s “worst-rated hotel” has been spilling the beans about his surprising experience.
Zac Jones, from Liverpool, decided to stay a night at The Grand Hotel in Llandudno in North Wales, which he claims is the worst-reviewed in the country,
In a TikTok video, he explained that the hotel was once known as a swanky place to stay, but those glory days might be over. Dodgy reputation aside though, he described several positive things about the hotel during his stay.
The hotel, bang on the seafront and crammed with memories in its grand old Victorian walls, is a landmark on the lush Llandudno North Shore Promenade.
TikToker Zac, who boasts a following just shy of 70,000, told his avid fans that this striking building has stood the test of time since 1902 and lived through two world wars. He even let slip that his great grandmother used to holiday there, reports Wales Online.
Building up a bit of suspense before trotting inside, Zac read out: “TripAdvisor reviews tell me there’s nothing good about it, and it’s actually embarrassingly bad.”
“Tonight we’re going to stay there ourselves and come to our own conclusions. What I can say about Llandudno though is it’s a beautiful place in general.”
Upon entry, he declared: “Very nice entrance,” as he zoomed in on a chandelier in the lobby, additionally describing it as “nice and classical… first impressions – this place is really cool.”
Continuing his tour, Zac journeyed through various parts of the hotel, revealing corridors and later on, the interior of his room. Sharing his opinion, he said: “First impression is a positive one. Definitely one of the nicest rooms I’ve been in, in a Britannia.”
He captured the impeccably clean room on camera, praising the high ceilings and “grand curtains” encompassing the window.
However, his review wasn’t all praise as he filmed his bathroom. He critiqued: “This is quite a bad toilet, I’m not going to lie… The floor is for function, not for style. Just looking around, I’d want to wear my shoes in here. Filming other parts of the bathroom, he showed the window, the Britannia soap, a bin and the shower.

Upon further exploration of the hotel, he discovered a dining hall and exclaimed: “This is lovely! Where are all the bad reviews coming from?”
He went on to explain that the hotel had “caught him by surprise”, and that he “didn’t have many bad words to say about it”.
