After travelling to Korea twice, I knew I’d splurge on restocking my favourite beauty products, so here’s my list of K-beauty must-haves to add to your beauty haul for glowing skin

Ashley Bautista
I went to Korea twice in one year and one thing really surprised me

I never thought I’d visit South Korea, let alone twice in one year. It’s a trip that I’ve always saved up for, because I knew I’d splurge on skincare goodies the second I got out there and lo and behold, I did.

Korean skincare or K-beauty has a huge global following with 1.5 million posts on TikTok. Notable trends include “glass skin”, which refers to achieving a clear and luminous complexion, compared to the reflection of a glass. Another K-beauty trend is the “cloud skin”, which unlike the “glass skin” is about embracing a more natural and soft glow.

Korean beauty has a lot to offer, and it’s redefining global beauty standards. The importance of having good skin has been embedded into their culture – and now, mine.

These are my top Korean skincare products

The Koreans’ love for skincare is often viewed as a form of self-care. Compared to Western countries, where cosmetics and skincare products tend to have stronger active ingredients and chemicals, Korean skincare is known for experimenting with natural ingredients like snail mucin, volcanic ash and aloe vera.

In terms of affordability, not only are Korean products half the price of UK favourites, but from my experience, you get more for your money as the products genuinely make a difference. These are the top products that I purchased during my travels to Korea, and they’re all under £30.

Innisfree Blueberry Rebalancing Cleanser, £13.46

This Blueberry Rebalancing Cleanser will remove everything in one wash

Hands down, the Blueberry Rebalancing Cleanser from Innisfree is best cleanser that exists. Not only does it smell good, but it also removes all of the dirt and make-up in just one use. It’s a thick creamy cleanser that’s super gentle on the skin and only requires a pea-sized amount to work its wonders. This cleanser has helped to transform my skin and leaves a luscious glow.

Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel Mist, £11.90

Is your skin feeling dry? This aloe vera spray will definitely help

The Aloe Vera Gel Mist from Nature Republic is a refreshing mist that hydrates and soothes your skin on the go. It’s light and non-greasy, and works as a refreshing mist after a long day in hot weather. I usually spray it in the morning and after removing my make-up. This product is known to keep skin hydrated and smooth, and boasts aloe vera, which is known for reducing redness, irritation and sunburned skin.

Olive Young Probioderm Collagen Lip Balm, £13.79

Keep your lips moisturised with this amazing lip balm

The Probioderm Collagen Lip Balm from Olive Young is a game-changer for dry, chapped lips. Infused with collagen, it helps hydrate and restore softness. It provides long-lasting moisture throughout the day, and I love how it leaves my lips feeling plump and smooth. My Korean friend recommended it to me when I spent winter in Korea, and I haven’t used anything else since.

Mediheal Trouble Pad Tree, £26

Is your skin feeling troubled? Mediheal is the solution

Having a breakout? The Trouble Pad Tree from Mediheal is packed with tea tree extract to soothe irritated skin and keep blemishes away. After removing all of your make-up or before applying it, take a few pads and place them on your cheek areas. The pads also help add an extra layer of moisture to your face. These pads are also a great option for anyone dealing with acne.

And of course, Korean face masks

Korean face masks are the best thing ever. Whether it’s for hydration, brightening, relaxation or tightening – there’s one for every need. They’re affordable, effective, and an essential part of any skincare routine. My favourite is the CELLMZING Firming Gel Mask by Torriden because it boosts elasticity and tightens pores, giving a more lifted complexion. It also targets fine lines and wrinkles. You can find it in shops such as PureSeoul, online and in-store.
