Influencer Callum Ryan recently visited a public toilet in London that is known for being one of the most expensive to use in the UK – and one thing left him seriously impressed
Influencer Callum Ryan has revealed that London is home to one of the UK’s most expensive public toilets. Intrigued, he decided to investigate whether it was worth the cost.
When nature calls while you’re out and about, finding a free toilet in a café or shop is usually the go-to solution. However, this isn’t always possible.
While some public conveniences are free, others come with a fee. According to the online content creator, the “most expensive place to go to the toilet in the UK” is 2theloo in Covent Garden.
Sharing his experience on TikTok, Callum filmed himself entering the ‘toilet store’, where he was asked to cough up £1.50 before gaining access – but once inside, he was pleasantly surprised.
The influencer noted that the facilities were spotless, well-stocked with loo roll, and each cubicle even had a hook for jackets or bags. He commented: “To be honest, it’s not bad, but I should hope so with the amount I paid. It’s clean. And that’s the main thing. It’s not dirty.”
Adding to the luxury, Callum was taken aback by an unexpected feature – a heater, which he described as “quite a nice touch”.
The toilet also doubles as a mini-shop, selling everything from sanitary products to beverages. Each wooden cubicle is also tastefully decorated.
Raymond Boyd Martin, head of the British Toilet Association, confirmed to The Sun in 2022: “The Covent Garden toilet is the most expensive loo in Britain.
“A lot of people will only pay £1 [at the time] begrudgingly, but this is what it costs for a good hygienic loo.”
The TikTok comment section was filled with shocked reactions to the price, with one person stating: “Shouldn’t have to pay to go to the toilet.”
Another wrote: “What the flip flop, that’s so expensive.
“I refused to pay and walked away,” said another.
On the other hand, some people were willing to pay for the luxury of a clean toilet. One person said: “I’d pay that if they are clean! ! I avoid public toilets as there usually so dirty.”
Another added: “Definitely worth it for a clean toilet.”
A third added: “I’d be more than willing to pay for for this service if it means the toilets will be spotlessly clean.”
According to Covent Garden’s website, the toilets are ‘award-winning”. When 2theloo first opened their Covent Garden location, they stated: “It’s our mission to make the absolute most of your toilet break”.
On its website, it adds:: “Our restrooms are cleaned after every use, designed, spacious, soundproof and non-touch. Our restroom concept is ‘together we are working on one amazing concept that is changing the way the world looks at public toilets’.”
2theloo opened the first ever ‘toilet store’ in Amsterdan in 2012, and they now have over 175 locations across the world.
