Despite agonising pain and needing another procedure due to a ‘flat spot’, Brittany insists it was all worth it

A mum who travelled 9,000 miles to Turkey for a quadruple surgery says it was “worth it” despite the pain being “more intense than childbirth”. Brittany Barkway, 26, opted for a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), liposuction, tummy tuck and breast lift with implants after feeling “dissatisfied” with her post-baby body.

She chose to fly to Istanbul, Turkey, as the cost of just a BBL in her native Australia was a whopping $30,000 AUD. Brittany managed to find a surgeon who would perform all the procedures she desired at once for a mere $18,000 AUD – including flights.

She jetted off for the 11-hour surgery on April 30, 2024, and described the recovery as “more painful than giving birth”. Two months later, Brittany revealed that 60 per cent of the swelling has subsided and she couldn’t be more thrilled with the results.

Brittany, a dental nurse hailing from Melbourne, said: “I had my daughter and I was so unhappy with my body. I had a lot of loose saggy skin. I wanted to get everything done. The only thing that really hurt was the tummy tuck. Everything else felt like severe bruising. It was an excruciating experience. It felt like what I could only imagine a C-section would feel like.

“I had BBL, liposuction 360 everywhere, a tummy tuck and a breast lift with implants. It was more painful than giving birth but it was worth it. I have more confidence than before I had her. My shape is better.”

Brittany did her homework thoroughly before deciding to go under the knife overseas, saying: “It was very expensive – it’s about $30,000 AUD for a BBL in Australia. I managed to save between $30,000 to $40,000 AUD. “

After getting a tip-off from a friend, she jetted off on April 28, 2024, following consultations over the phone. Post-op, Brittany was reeling from the pain as she came to. She endured a week of recovery before heading home on May 8, 2024. She said: “On the third week it started to die down. It was painful to get up out of bed or get comfortable.

Despite her jitters about travelling solo for the surgery, Brittany says she is happy with the results. She has kept up with wearing compression gear and maintaining wound hygiene. Reflecting on the transformation, she said: “I started to see the final results a couple of weeks ago. A lot of swelling has gone down and I’m happy I got it all done.”

However, Brittany’s not finished yet – she is gearing up for another BBL due to a flat spot caused by lying on her back during recovery. She said: “I wanted to do this for myself. It makes me want to go out more with my daughter. It was for the better. I’d do it again if I had to.”

Brittany faced harsh criticism from online trolls questioning her body confidence, yet she firmly believes in a woman’s right to alter her appearance if she chooses. She said: “Do what you want. If you want to do something, do it. Just make sure you choose a good plastic surgeon and do your research.”
