It’s not true that you have to turn to overly complicated chemicals when it comes to cleaning your home or the dreaded oven.

For hundreds of years, before hard chemicals even existed as cleaning products, many used natural cleaning ingredients to refresh their homes. One of the toughest areas to clean in your home will probably be your oven, often the stains in there are stubborn and it requires a lot of effort and scrubbing which is why many resort to using harsh chemicals.

However, there is another way, as cleaning experts online have shown some easy and affordable ways to take care of your baked-on messes. S&T Inc. (@sandtproducts) is a brand sharing its products and cleaning tips on Instagram and in one clip, they showed followers a simple way to clean the oven using just a few ingredients you probably have on hand in your kitchen cupboard.

All you need is water, lemons and baking soda. The power of these ingredients is said to be unmatched. To start cleaning your oven, cut up three to four lemons, place them in an oven-safe dish, and add just enough water to cover the lemons. You need to set your oven to 350 degrees and once it has preheated, put your tray of lemons in for 20 minutes. Once heated let the oven cool for at least 15 minutes before continuing with the process.

The purpose of the heating and cooling process with the lemons is to loosen up any stuck-on food and grease in your oven. Once your oven has cooled, combine the warm lemon water and some baking soda to give everything a scrub. You will still need to use some elbow grease but once you’ve done this part you can finally, rinse and dry, and your oven will be back to new, ready for you to cook until your heart’s content again.

One person who used the hack commented and said: “Tried this and was actually able to get the gunk off the oven window and I wasn’t gagging on fumes. Definitely worth taking the time to do.” Another said: “I’m definitely trying this!” Someone else added: “Bet you this smells wonderful also.”
