A doctor reveals the reasoning behind his shocking egg white intake – and we’ve broken down the benefits behind it. When developing a meal plan tailored to support his workout regime, Dr Sermed Mezher began starting every day with an omelette made from eight egg whites, one egg yolk, a touch of spinach and mozzarella.

This adds up to an impressive 56 egg whites per week, and while the amount might sound excessive, his diet, as recorded in The Telegraph, offers numerous benefits. Eggs are often called nature’s multivitamin – one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. Few other foods can compare when it comes to the benefits they offer.

Eggs contain many healthy fats, including omega-3 fatty acids, which help lower heart inflammation and they also raise HDL (good cholesterol) which is linked to a lower risk of heart disease

Aids eye health

Many people believe only carrots are good for eyesight, however eggs are just as good as the vitamin A is essential for overall eye health. Amongst the others, eggs are packed with lutein and zeaxanthin, which are two antioxidants that protect the eye against cataracts.

Strengthens teeth and bones

Eggs are one of the very few natural sources of vitamin D, which helps the body absorb calcium and stronger bones mean a lower risk of fractures. These are just a few of the benefits of eggs, making them a must have in your diet. You don’t need to eat 56 a week but adding a few to your meals can make a real difference.
