Being stuck in traffic is undeniably something that grinds most drivers gears, especially when your car is stationary and ‘pushy’ drivers are making their way through.
But fear not, one savvy driving instructor has revealed his ultimate trick to not get stuck at a T-junction and trust us, it’s super simple. The folks at ‘R’ Drive School of Motoring, hailing from Uppingham, often divulge nifty driving tips via snippets from their lessons.
“It works every time,” declared Sonny Sunderland, an instructor with the school, on the video caption. When approaching a T junction, Sonny tutored his pupil to wind down her window and engage eye contact with the driver opposite.
“Open your window. When you get there, look the person in the eye – they will let you out every single time,” he tells her, adding, “If you have your window up, you’re just a metal machine. You’re now a person.”
And voila! As soon as the student locked eyes with the driver across from them, she was waved into the lane without the usual wait time.
“There you go, look at him,” encouraged Sonny, following with a satisfied “There you go.”
Despite Sonny’s confidence in his technique, commenters weren’t all convinced, with some admitting that they’d be reluctant to give way so quickly.
One individual posted: “If you are in an Audi or a Range Rover you can stare at me all day long, it isn’t happening! ” A second person chimed in with: “I’d just hold eye contact and not let them out now ik this”.
