Boasting a new and improved leak-proof lid, built-in straw and pretty spring shades, I can’t get enough of the latest addition to the Stanley Quencher family

The Stanley Quencher burst into popularity in early 2022, going viral online and selling-out multiple times, with its practicality in promoting hydration and aesthetic appeal leading to a surge in sales. I got my hands on the coveted cup at the end of 2023 and have used it pretty much every day since, so you can imagine my excitement when Stanley released an upgraded version of the tumbler this year.

Stanley’s Quencher ProTour Flip Straw Tumbler shares similar features to its predecessor, however, with one key and very important difference. While the original Stanley Quencher H2.0 Flowsate Tumbler wasn’t completely travel-friendly with an open straw lid, the Quencher ProTour Flip Straw Tumbler still fits 1.2L of liquid inside, but boasts a snazzy new flip straw lid that the brand say is ‘designed for on-the-go hydration’.

It is a little more expensive than the Flowsate priced at £50 rather than £45, but it seems to answer a prayer me and all other Stanley Quencher fans have been asking for. It comes in five stylish colours: Black Fade, Frost Fade, Rose Quartz Fade, Ash Fade, and Azure Fade, and a pink £60 version part of the Messi collection with Stanley.

I switched my old Stanley out for this new release, testing it over the course of a few weeks to see if it lived up to the hype and found that the Quencher ProTour Flip Straw Tumbler is perfect for popping in your bag without worrying about water spills, making it the ideal accessory for busy gym goers, commuters and more.

Practicality wise it is of course large, as any bottle able to hold 1.2 litres of liquid would be so you should bear in mind that when full it can be fairly heavy to carry. However, I don’t have to worry about keeping it upright in a bag anymore and found it did not leak at all when taking it on my travels.

It also has a narrow base that easily fit into my car cup holder, as well as slotting into the running machine at the gym. I did find that there were certain bags such as my backpack that the cup wouldn’t slot into, so I would have to use another water bottle on those days. The Owala FreeSip Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle with Straw is an alternative smaller option with top-rated reviews – you can get it at Amazon for £32.49.

I’m someone who prefers their drink to be cold as I find that more refreshing and the Stanley cup is able to keep water cold for the entire day and even longer when iced. If I pop ice into my Stanley and leave it on my bedside table overnight, when I wake up in the morning the ice still remains allowing me to have a refreshing sip at all times.

The key to the longevity of a Stanley is keeping them clean so you don’t have any nasty bacteria growing in the damp environment. The Stanley Quencher is dishwasher safe and as it doesn’t have many nooks and crannies, it is easy to keep good as new with a quick run through the dishwasher, or a soak with warm water and soap.

Functionality aside, I picked up the Stanley Quencher in the shade Rose Quartz Fade and I’m not ashamed to admit that having an aesthetically pleasing water bottle does encourage me to drink more water. I love how it looks sitting on my desk and without even thinking about it, I get through at least two litres of water a day now.

Yes, £50 is rather pricey for a water bottle but if it’s a product you’re going to be using everyday and it genuinely encourages you to be healthier with your hydration levels, it’s well worth it to me. You can get one for yourself on the Stanley website or if you are not keen on the handle, Chilly’s 1 litre Flip Bottle offers a sleek design for £49.
