If you have the right products and method you can achieve amazing results in less than 15 minutes according to Laura Mountford, a professional cleaner and social media popular for her cleaning hacks

Cleaning windows might seem like a chore, but it doesn’t have to be.

If you have the right products and method you can achieve amazing results in less than 15 minutes according to Laura Mountford, a professional cleaner and social media star known as @lauracleanaholic on Instagram. Laura says windows tend to get grimier and look cloudier in autumn because of the extra moisture in the air but she has the perfect method to tackle the muck.

Laura said: “Windows become foggy due to condensation, laundry drying, humidity and the change in temperature.” Laura recommended keeping home well-ventilated during the colder months to stop mould and mildew from creeping as reported by Leicestershire Live.

But the good news? Laura says getting your windows streak-free and sparkling doesn’t take much effort – all you need is a bit of dish soap. Sharing her simple hack, she revealed: “The quickest hack for cleaning your windows is to use a mop and hot soapy water. Clean the windows and frames, then use a window [vacuum] to remove all the soapy water residue.”

Dish soap, designed to break down grease and grime, lifts dirt from glass quickly, making it easy to wipe away without leaving streaks. Mix a small amount of washing-up liquid with water, and you’ve got a powerful solution to banish dirt without any smears. If you prefer, you can swap dish soap for white vinegar. According to Laura, “Using this method is quick, easy and cost-effective. It is also really satisfying cleaning your windows this way. You will be able to clean one window in less than five minutes.”

To start, give your windows and frames a good brush to clear away dust and cobwebs. Then, mix some hot water with a small amount of dish soap in a bucket. Grab a mop and get scrubbing, making sure to cover both the glass and frames.

If you’ve got a window vac handy, use it to suck up all the soapy water. Once that’s done, use a microfibre cloth to polish off the windows. “The key to leaving windows with a streak-free shine is using a high-quality microfibre cloth to give them a final polish after cleaning,” Laura explained. She swears by the Spontex Window and Glass cloth , saying its “generous size, thickness, and top-tier quality” always leave her windows sparkling.

For an extra touch of sparkle, Laura finishes off with Flash Spray Wipe Done and pairs it with her trusty Spontex cloth to avoid smears. This quick and easy method promises to turn window cleaning into a simple, speedy task. According to Laura, “Using this method will leave your windows sparkling and allow as much light as possible into your home during the darker autumn months.”
