Leading colour expert Tash Bradley has opened up on the one colour scheme she’s loving at the moment – and it will make guests look “fabulous” each time they visit
Given we spend a lot of time in our homes, it pays to decorate them with colour combinations that make us happy. But with so many paint colours to choose from, finding a scheme that is versatile without being bland isn’t always straightforward and can lead to us reaching for tins upon tins of bright white paint.
While paint choice is personal, there are some colour combinations that will always work. Speaking to the Mirror, Tash Bradley, Director of Interior Design at Lick Paint, has revealed one pairing that she’s obsessing over this season – and it’s sure to wow your guests too.
“I’m getting kind of swept away at the moment with this deep, rich plum colour that I’m just seeing everywhere. But the thing that I’m obsessed with is a rich burgundy – here it’s called our Red 06 or Purple 03 – paired with a bright pink,” she says.
“That colour combination is really flattering for all skin tones, so if you’re hosting a lot it’s a really good colour to have under artificial light and to make everyone look as fabulous as possible in your house. So I’d go for a burgundy and a pink.”
For home owners, painting a room can be as easy as purchasing the paint and grabbing a brush, but that doesn’t mean that renters can’t fill their home with colour too. According to Tash, there are plenty of ways that those who rent can use a lick of paint to transform their living space.
“If you are willing to decorate your house, decorate your rented property, every single client I’ve spoken to renting, whether it’s their first home, it’s a one bed studio up to a five bedroom house, it’s always been the same scenario or outcome,” she explains.
“I’ve never come across a landlord who’s had an issue if you are willing to put the time, effort and love into that property with beautiful paint and make it really stunning.”
But if you don’t want to make the commitment of painting your rooms, there are other ways you can breathe new life into your rental property. From adding statement pieces of decor to experimenting with art work, small touches can make a big difference.
“Some people don’t want to commit to the decorating as they’re moving out in six months or a year, which is totally fair. A great way to bring colour in and, you can take it with you, is to think about your floor.
“It’s a really large area, so buy an amazing statement rug that’s really colourful. Or go with artwork – the bigger, the better – bring that in and you can take it with you,” says Tash.
“Even little things like upcycling pieces of furniture, it can make such a difference. Go onto Facebook Marketplace and get something. Giving something a new life is something I really love doing. It can look so different and it’s really easy to do.
“You just need to get one tin of paint and it can literally transform some bedroom tables and then you can add that brighter pop of colour and then have neutral walls.”
