Despite cruel trolls suggesting Katy Perry has turned to Ozempic to lose weight, the star has hit back and revealed the natural way she’s lost weight – including her ‘secret weapon’

Katy Perry has made a sensational comeback with her controversial new single – but that’s not the only thing that’s got people talking.

The bubblegum popstar has left fans wowed with her confident new look and weight loss transformation, having recently lost 20lbs. Unlike fellow big name celebrities who have turned to weight loss injections, the singer’s pounds came off in a more natural way. “Her weight loss has nothing to do with any help from Ozempic or weight loss drugs,” a pal told Life & Style magazine. “She just worked hard and is eating better than ever.”

Katy’s recent weight loss has seen her cut out sugar and processed foods as well as working out alongside her disciplined fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom. The 39-year-old mum to their daughter Daisy, three, is said to be ‘loving how fit she is right now’ and feeling ‘sexy and confident’.

“Orlando’s been on a huge push himself the past year to get into the best shape of his life and has really motivated Katy to do the same,” said the pal of the star. “Right from the moment they get up, their healthy routine starts.”

Fitness mad Orlando likes to act as Katy’s personal trainer, encouraging her to work out with lunges, squats and light cardio before breakfast. He is also partial to cleanses and encourages her to join him. “He has the willpower of a superhero and she gets competitive with him, so the upside of that is she’s gotten in the best shape of her life,” said her pal.

Katy and Orlando, 47, like to eat ‘clean’ which is mainly lean protein like chicken or fish with plenty of fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds. The couple prefer to eat five small meals a day, particularly if the Roar singer is training for a tour or a residency.

“He definitely is very goal-minded about everything with the way he eats and works out,” Katy told Women’s Health magazine in January of her health conscious partner. “I’m probably one-fourth or one-fifth of what he is, so he is super dedicated and I’m more of a maintaining mother.”

The star told the publication she began her day with a glass of water and apple cider vinegar before some celery juice, with a banana or hard boiled eggs for breakfast.

Lunch for the singer is a protein with salad or soup and for dinner, a simple meal might consist of grilled chicken with quinoa and asparagus. Katy said eats pasta once or twice a week, between 6pm and 8pm.

When it comes to working out, she said: “It’s not my favourite thing to do with the world unless I’m dancing or I’m snowboarding or I’m doing something that’s kind of masked.” Hiking, pickleball and candlelight yoga are activities she likes, with the star aiming to work out three to four times a week.

Katy has always been a strong advocate for body positivity, once telling Mashable: “I’m curvy, I’m not sample-sized”. In 2021 she told Variety she was in ‘no rush’ to lose the pounds she gained having her daughter Daisy, saying “It’s been a year. I’m more interested in her happiness and my happiness and mental health.”

More recently Katy has attracted cruel comments online from followers who had noticed her weight loss, with one person called her ‘another Ozempic addicted woman’ while another told her ‘you are a talented lady, you don’t need to be so skinny’. But unlike the likes of Sharon Osbourne, Rebel Wilson and Oprah Winfrey, who have all opened up about taking Ozempic or weight loss drugs, the toned star’s other half has been all she needs.

“Orlando has been her right-hand man and has helped her out,” said Life & Style magazine’s source. “They eat the same and work out the same. She has cut out tons of processed food and doesn’t drink that much. She has been looking incredible because she is sticking to the new routine.”
