Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly – also known as MGK – first got together several years ago and the couple have attracted much attention with their romance since then

Actor Megan Fox and rapper Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) have attracted much attention over their relationship at times in the few years since the pair first got together in 2020.

Their romance has made headlines again this week following the news that Megan, 38, and MGK, 34 – whose real name Colson Baker – are expecting a baby together. She shared the news with her followers on Instagram on Monday.

Megan – who is already a parent to three children with her ex-husband Brian Austin Green – posted a photo of herself cradling a baby bump, whilst another photo in the post showed a positive pregnancy test. She wrote: “Nothing is ever really lost. Welcome back.” She tagged MGK – who has a child from a previous relationship himself – in the post.

Following the news, we’ve taken a look back at Megan and MGK’s relationship history. They are said to have properly met for the first time in 2020 whilst both working on the film Midnight in the Switchgrass (2021), as reported by GQ magazine, after briefly meeting years earlier at a party.

Megan said they “didn’t hook up right away” after reconnecting on the film set. The couple went on to confirm their romance later that same year, after the actor appeared in the music video for MGK’s song Bloody Valentine. MGK told GQ that their “first date” was “epic” and recalled picking her up in a Cadillac, before taking her to a picnic on a hill where he had “thousands” of roses for her. It was suggested that they had dates prior but not “out of the house”.

Their engagement was announced less than two years later. MGK proposed to Transformers star Megan whilst on vacation in Puerto Rico in January 2022. MGK said he proposed “beneath the same branches [they had] fell in love under”. Singer-songwriter MGK said he designed the engagement ring himself, with assistance from jeweller Stephen Webster. He shared following the proposal that the ring featured the couple’s birthstones; a diamond and an emerald.

Megan said: “In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree. We asked for magic. We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time.” She added that they had been “intoxicated off of the love” and “laughed more than [she] ever imagined possible”.

The couple are thought to have since experienced their share of ups and downs in the relationship, with there having been split rumours on several occasions over the years. They’re even said to have called off their engagement.

Megan prompted questions about their relationship in February last year when she deleted photos of MGK from Instagram and then appeared to deactive her account. At the time, a source told People that Megan was “very upset” and wouldn’t speak to MGK after the couple “had a fight”.

She had previously shared a lyric about “dishonesty” in a post, which sparked concern that MGK could have cheated on her. This was soon denied though, with Megan assuring fans upon her return to social media: “There has been no third party interference in this relationship of any kind.”

The following month, it was claimed that Megan and MGK were “on a break,” though a source told Us Weekly that they were in contact despite being “off”. The source said: “They have stalled wedding planning to work on their issues.”

Just a few months later in May last year, the pair were said to be “slowly working on reconciling”. A source also told People: “He’s doing whatever he can to get her back.” It was also claimed at the time that Megan was “making him work for it” and that MGK had “a lot of proving himself to do”.

MGK had supported Megan at her Sports Illustrated issue launch event in New York just days prior. It was claimed around that time that he was trying to “get her back” and a source told TMZ that they were “super affectionate” that night. The outlet said that MGK was spotted kissing Megan.

It was later claimed that the couple were “back together”. A source told People in an article published at the end of May last year: “They are back together. They have explored therapy. Things are still not back to normal though.”

Months later, Megan disclosed that she had previously experienced a miscarriage, referencing it in her poetry book Pretty Boys Are Poisonous, released in November last year. MGK is thought to have later addressed the experience in his song Don’t Let Me Go, released in February this year.

Speaking on Good Morning America around the time of her book’s release, Megan said: “I had never been through anything like that before in my life.” She added: “It was very difficult for both of us. And it sent us on a very wild journey together and separately, and together and apart, and together and apart, and together and apart, trying to navigate ‘what does this mean? And why did this happen?'”

Megan and MGK’s relationship was the subject of further speculation the following month. A source told Us Weekly in December last year: “[They] have had a very up and down relationship. They are great one day and then fighting with each other the next. They love each other and have passion in droves, but that passion goes both ways.” The source claimed that the couple were still working on their “issues” and “how they communicate” at the time.

More recently, Megan opened up about her relationship with MGK whilst on the Call Her Daddy podcast, in an episode released in March this year. She suggested to host Alex Cooper that the engagement had been called off, following speculation prior to the interview on the podcast.

Megan said that a summary of the relationship provided by Alex – which included that the engagement had been called off – was “accurate”. She also shared: “What I can say is, that is what I refer to as being my ‘twin soul,’ and there will always be a tether to him no matter what. I can’t say for sure what the capacity will be, but I will always be connected to him somehow. Beyond that, I’m not willing to explain.”
